Just wondering where you all play, or playing mostly at the moment. At the moment I am inbetween Ultimatebet, pokerstars(first time I've actually bothered depositing there and going well, fish galore) and going to try out TowerPoker very soon.

Just opened Pacific Poker up for the first time in ages and realised I have money it in:D

I started mainly on VCpoker (iPoker). They have a $10 no-deposit bonus (which I have since worked up to over $1000). I also found that the deposit bonuses at VC cash out faster than nearly every other room (and much faster than many other iPoker rooms).

I moved onto Tower, which at the time had a pretty good value 5x deposit bonus. I think the 5x bonuses are now gone and it's all 8x or worse.

After that I bought into Pacific, which has 50% up to $150 if you sign up from pokerlistings. This is probably the fastest cashing bonus, as you get the bonus immediately and just have to play through 20x to cash out. But watch out for the rake at Pacific - it can be lethel at low limits.

I also signed up to Bodog via pokerlistings for a 100% $100 tournament credit bonus (use it for MTT entry fees), and to Titan (also iPoker) for a $50 instant bonus (but mainly for the WSOP freerolls).

Overall I like the iPoker software (excellent hand history). Tower (OnGame) is also pretty good- the session browser is nice, but accessing recent hand histories can be a major pain. Pacific is terrible software, very slow cashout times, but a good bonus. Bodog software is unlike any of the others - it's quite good once you get used to it.

I'll get to Party and Stars eventually, but the journey is long :)

Yeh I have played at all of those, the thing with me, was when I first turned 18, I just started making accounts on a bunch of sites, then later on realised that if I had signed on through pokerlistings I would have got alot better deals. I've won alot of money on titan over the time I have been on there. Pacifics software seems to crash for me if I am using any other poker site at the same time, so it gets a bit annoying. I quite like bodog, I haven't played there much but it's something different and will probably be depositing more there soon.

I took a break from playing for a while, had a bad streak, but last 2 weeks or so getting back ontop of it. I hate party poker, absolutely hate it lol.

Stars Is actually quite good, long tournies but heaps of people just play real loose, very good if you can sit around for a while and tough it out.

Party for a bit, with a $50 free starting bonus, then that all went, then Titan for a while, also with a $50 free starting bonus, but now it's just Stars.

Thats the one thing I don't like about Stars, tournaments go for friggin ever. I've played a few that have gone on for 5 hour mark. Its growing on me though, I just don't play tournaments as much on that site, most cash/SnG

I don't know a lot of others, which would u recommend most?

Yeh all the tournies I play on there generally go easily 3hours plus+not really much else you can do on there, all the tournies go for ages just due to the player volume on that site.

You and me too, except for the 18yo bit.

Wen something liek this

Party -> Stars -> FTP -> Stars -> FTP -> Stars -> Everest

What's the secret? :)

Mansion's does a free $10 too

PKR is pretty cool. I only play in the Freerolls but now have $32.00 real cash. A lot of crazy Europeans play on this site, but I find it pretty good after the intial 3 or 4 rounds of "ALL-INS".

Yeh I want to play PKR, but I have a shite graphics card, doesn't let me play =(

In the beginning, the secret is get lucky ;)

Once you have $100 or so, the secret is shorthanded limit and French maniacs (that and spending way too much time playing).
With your $10 what games did you play, tournies or SnG's or cash?

Started cash limit (mostly 6 handed). 0.10/0.20 to begin with, 0.25/0.50 after a little while. Didn't really start playing SnGs and tournies until I had accumulated at least $100.

Took a few downswings on the way, especially when I switched games or limits. In fact, I'm taking a downswing right now - the last week has been backwards, but overall I'm still ok..

I think my game is reasonably solid, I am not a poker pro that's for sure.

However I find when I deposit $10 or $20 I go to the SnG's or Tournies, get a few bad beats and I am screwed cash is gone.

I have been wondering am I investing it the wrong way and perhaps the cash tables is the solution go there first?

If you are starting with $10, there is no doubt that you need a bit of good luck in the beginning if you hope to grow it into a bankroll. But you also have to manage your tiny bankroll very carefully.

I would also say that your chances are much better on a cash table than in a tourney (especially MTTs). If you play a tourney, the most likely outcome (even if you are a good player) is that you lose your money - your expectation may be positive due to a small (even if higher than average) chance of winning a big prize, but that's not a lot of help when your bankroll is $10.

Start at the lowest limit cash tables you can find, and work your way up. With $10 or $20, stick to 0.10/0.20 limit or lower or NL1. If you work up to $30 or $40, consider moving up a limit, but be prepared to move back down quickly if you don't start winning.

My rules of thumb for SnGs and NL cash are to stick to buyins no more than 1/20th of bankroll. For limit I usually buy in for 15 big bets, and again no more than about 1/20th of my roll. The most important rule however is to only play games where you are pretty confident of beating the game (and rake).

What proportion of your roll you choose to invest is up to you, but the most important thing is to be disciplined. If you move up a limit and start losing, you need to know when to cut your losses and move back down. It's easy to bust if you chase your losses at a limit higher than your bankroll can handle.

Very interesting.

My tournament form general is good, but I do suffer from alot of bad beats, which does hurt at times.

I may try the reverse logic and start in the cash games and see if I can work my way up.

In my last live tourney, I got all-in preflop with AA vs KK. I don't need to tell you what happened next :)

Good luck. Let us know how you go!
