AFL Club
Sydney
last 2 round fixtures:

Swans v Dogs
Bris v Swans

Geelong v Carlton
Freo v Carlton

Hawks v Freo
Pies v Hawks

therefore home final against hawks....

Freo 52
swans 48
hawks 46
carlton 44

Anybody know when Bolts, LRT, Bradshaw, Smith return ?

i honestly cant see freo beating carlton. so we will need to beat the dogs this week to make sure. do-able but not easy

I know we're capable of beating the Hawks, but I'd rather play Carlton, in Melb or Sydney, first up in an Elimination final.

The one thing I dont want us to do is have to travel to Perth to play Freo.

Freo has Sandilands back this week, I believe they'll beat Carlton.
Remember score aside, Carlton played a completly pathetic game on the weekend. Like they pointed out on the telecast if it was a decent side they were playing against they would be the ones down by 50.

We will finish 6th... Hear it here now.

It's a ****ing shame that we are hamstrung in any home final by having to play it an ANZ. We play the SCG so much better.

I agree...

in order of preference I'd have Carlton, Hawthorn then Freo, obviously Freo would be at Subi with sandi back...Carlton I'd take anywhere, Hawthorn at home...

interesting few weeks ahead

So if we get a home final, we will be required to play it at ANZ?
What wank stain came up with that uninformed decision?

I'm certain that's the case, unless there is a clash. From memory, the legendary SF against Geelong in 2005 was only at the SCG because there was an event at ANZ. Thank God for that!

Well on that first Weekend - not one Rugby League match is scheduled for ANZ at all. Damn!

Just a quick thing i noted in the OP,

Pies should be highlighted rather than Hawks for those ladder predictions to hold true. Was probably just a formatting error as i can't imagine anyone picking against the Pies at the moment, much to my disappointment.

yes, meant to highlight pies..

swans v hawks at homebush r1 finals.
dockers v carlton ( 2 weeks in a row)

If it's any consolation, Hawthorn have a 100% loss rate at ANZ (1 match hehe) - though we're probably not far off that at the SCG either and we've played goodness knows how many more there

Whoa, that'd be weird! I wonder how the players feel about that? It'd be a bit like groundhog day i would have thought.

Out of interest, if Hawks somehow end up playing Carlton, how do you guys match up against the dockers? And do you play okay at Perth usually?

We essentially had that in 07, played Pies round 21 then again first week of finals. Funnily that year our belting of Hawthorn actually screwed us up, if we'd lost I think we would have got North (they came 4th, but if Hawks had won, we'd have been 8th, North 5th).

With Roos saying he'd rather manage injuries for the finals, than go all out to win the last two games, can someone tell me how the finals draw works based on finishing 5-8.

5th vs 8th (5th playing at home)

6th vs 7th (6th playing at home)

Both finals are elimination finals, so whoever loses is out and whoever wins goes on to week 2 to play the losers of the qualifying finals between 1st and 4th & 2nd and 3rd. The week 2 finals (semi finals) are home finals for the losers of the qualifying finals.

So we might get a home final in week 1 but if we win through there, we will be away for the rest of the finals.

Thanks
Much of a muchness then for us, though we'd obviously not like to get Freo at home again, if they finished 5th and we finished 8th.

6th at home to Carlton or Hawks sounds best to me.

i actually think if we play Carlton, then MCG. ANZ is rubbish and I dont think we play our best footy there. SCG would be a diff story, but I think they will rise to the ocassion more at the M than at Homebush.
