Oh, it has to be Melbourne doesn't it?

What could possibly go wrong?

Hah, in all seriousness, i'd say St Kilda. If they're paying Silvagni a cool 4 million into the family trust, I'd be sure my boy would get a nice house in Mozzy.

A club not in the bottom 2 or 3, so preseason draft is not a serious threat but ideally they have a top 5 pick this year (at worst top 8).

If you are trading for future picks, you want a club with an aging list. I think Collingwood and Geelong will have to drop down eventually, so to get there 2026 or 2027 picks would be valuable.

Any club that has something approximating the player's value. Or if you don't support WC, then WC.

Harley Reid - for example - would've netted Richmond, Essendon, Melbourne or Carlton's first rounders in the current draft order this year if he was up for trade. The best Geelong would've offered is pick 19 and future assets. You're not trading one of Richmond's first two picks for 3 Geelong firsts, and even if you have just one early pick it is far more valuable than unknown future firsts - especially if you are a finalist.

The whole reason WC 'won' the Judd trade is Kennedy turned out to be a superstar. But Carlton had picks 1 and 3 and pick 4 from two years prior available. They prioritised 1 (Kruezer) over Kennedy so that's on them, but no other club had a comparable draft hand. Melbourne could've offered 4 and 14.

Other than that you want to deal with clubs with FS/NGA/academy considerations. Sydney and Gold Coast traded out good picks this year that would've been used on points bidding anyway so Curnow and Petracca leaving wasn't the end of the world for Carlton and Melbourne.

Agree with this although the change to only being able to use two picks to match will change things a lot I think.

I voted North but would also be Happy with West Coast

Blair Hartley loves trading with the 2 above teams as they always give Richmond great value for our discards

GC is great also but their supporters dont melt as much on this site
