Hey, I have a question regarding Wii motion plus / Wii remote plus (which is just a Wii remote with in built motion plus)

It seems like there are very few games that actually use this motion plus technology?

I'm contemplating buying a Wii U for when some mates come around and instead of buying loads of expensive Remote Plus controllers I can just get some cheap old ones?

The main question would be: does motion plus actually improve something? Say for a game like Mario Kart (using the Wii mote to steer which I like, not a gamepad) will you have improved sensitivity using motion plus or is there no difference at all?

Thanks in advance!

There are 3 types of games: games that require Motion Plus, games that support it, and games that don't use it.

There are maybe 10 games that actually require the Motion Plus, you can't play them with a normal controller.
There are quite a few more that support it (but still less than 50 at this stage), but using a regular controller is also possible (will just be less accurate).
For every other game in existence that doesn't support it, they work exactly like a normal controller. Games like Mario Kart which don't support it will control no differently.

I looked through and there really aren't many good games that even use it. Skyward Sword is probably the only one that I'd be interested in getting, and I can always just buy one for that if necessary.

Bought one in the end and fold an old wiimote and nunchuk lying around :) Controls perfectly well for Mario Kart.

yeah you don't even need motion plus, the new Wii Sports game they put out and the Zelda you mentioned were two of the only games that supported it.. bastards are still pimping out those motion plus remotes despite nothing still being out to use them, I mean there's certainly no use for them playing Wii U games.

Yeah it is a joke.

I bought online for about 40 CHF, including shipping, three cheap knockoff wii motes (no motion plus) + nunchuks. Quite possibly they'll be duds, but I did have 1 proper wii mote + nunchuk and of course the gamepad. These are just for occasional session with mates around.

Also a single wii mote with motion plus is about 60 CHF here.... It's worth the risk hehe.
