Would be niceif we could drop nostalgia all together and actually start creating innovations in fashion, music and films rather than this tired habit of rehashing. This tells me 2 things

  • Humans have become incredibly lazy
  • Humans have just about done the whole 360 and have finally run out of fresh new ideas hence the constant rehashing.
  • Humans have hit a creative brick wall
  • Marketing people wield too much influence over youngsters who in turn then drown in their own nostalgia when they become adults and then try to force it on the rest of society in forms of clothing music and art.
I am personally over it. I wonder what the naughties would be like when it comes back? A pastiche of retro revivals being brought back again?

So come on people its time to get back to innovating and not imitating!

so as soon as it reaches 2010 will we all be going "shit the 90's were the best!"?
if the cycle stays true in the 2020's we'll all be longing for now. Can't imagine that lol

I'm not surprised you say that, you're an Essendon supporter :D

There were genuine cultural innovations in the 90s that are already getting the nostalgia treatment now - rave for example. yes, pedeants wuill argue that kicked of with Summer Of Love II in 87, but really, it was a very 90s thing.

And now you have 'nu rave' - The Klaxons, Hadouken etc etc.
