I have a linksys wireless connection so i can get internet out in my room which is at the other end of the house. I also have a range expander.
I started playing games such as HL2DM and Q3, but like every minute or so the connection will just stop for about 2 seconds and then continue. I put on my Windows firewall and it seemed to help a bit (give me an extra 25-40 seconds of game play before quick freeze). It is really annoying, especially being in a battle and then just stopping for 2 seconds, it rrally ruins the experience.
Seeing most people here would understand computers pretty well I am reaching out for help from you guys, and it would be appreciated.

It all depends how fast a connection you have to the game server.
Servers with a lower ping will get you less latency and less drop outs.

If you are logging into a server with a low ping then I would sugest loooking into how strong a connection you have to your wireless access point. Are there lots of walls between you and the access point? Does it tell you you have a strong connection in windows? Does this problem still occur when you are directly connected to the internet?
If all else fails you could try restarting your modem

The connection runs smoothly, as it would if it were hardwired, until about 30 seconds of gameplay, then it briefly freezes then run smooth again. The time for a dropout doesn't change, even if i play in a server in Australia where my pings like 30. The signal strength and speed is always changing, it's weird, ATM it is at Low Strength and the speed is only 18Mbps, which is usually lower than the norm.
