ps2

xbox has better graphics and is faster but a shocking control pad
and its hardware cost a fortune

nintendo is too children orientated -the one game i loved on nintendo 64 was zelda, but wait until you see what the new zelda for the gamecube looks like (shudder)

Ps2 seems to have the majority of the best game developers in its corner, plus the games that it designs itself are fantastic e.g GT3

I own both PS2 and the Xbox but after the intial few games (halo, gotham racing etc) they havent really had a great game that has grabbed me unlike Ps2 whaich has had Metal gear solid 2,Vice city, even AFL wasnt that bad.

shocking control pad? i like the control pad, and if you have small hands or something then you can get the S pad.

You'll find that Xbox is getting better and better support, although the ps2 does have the Gran Tourismo and GTA series'. And Pro Evo soccer if you like soccer.

Metal Gear Solid (souped up including the first game as well) will be out on Xbox in a couple of months, and AFL is also on Xbox which is the best version. Splinter Cell is also on Xbox which is widely regarded as the best version, and when a game comes out on all the systems more often then not the best version will be the Xbox version.

obviously i prefer xbox but they're all good. you could probably get a gamecube for $5 at crazy's these days, it will be gone the way of the dreamcast in a few months. gamecube is still a quality system despite this though.

As i stated at the MOMENT the Xbox has failed to deliver a real BLOCKBUSTER game since the first few games came out with its release, but yes i am looking forward to getting splinter cell though.

i do agree when games come out on the xbox they are slightly higher quality, but im getting sick of waiting for them.

I found the xboxes controlpad to be too small and its all right saying go get another one but that costs more money.money that id pefer to spend on software

nintendo has failed with the gamecube and latest reports have it going the same way as sega and developing games only, even though they have denied this.So dont be suprised to see in 3-5 years mario on playstation and xbox

Shocking control pad?

The Controller S is one of the best control pads I've used.

The Dual Shock is still the worst control pad ever. (no triggers!?!? Although I do like the D-pad....)

And what do you mean it "costs a fortune?" For what you are getting, it's damn cheap really.

Ah yes - the new Zelda game that just got 40/40 in Famitsu.

But I wouldn't expect an expert like you to know that.

Funny - Nintendo have just entered into talks with NEC to co-develop their next gaming console, but I wouldn't expect you to know that either.

I love the way people who have no idea about games talk crap on public message boards about where the games industry is going.

Nintendo are actually making a profit on each console they sell, unlike Sony and M$.

wait to you see the new type graphics on it

I think gPhonque would have seen them. I don't mind the way Zelda is looking now, at first I didn't like the new look but it grows on you and looks very good when you see it in action.

There are pros and cons for each console.

Gamecube:
Pros Some excellent games and of course Mario! Cons - Regarded as rather childish, lack of DVD player.
PS2:
Pros Huge game range and pretty cheap compared to the other consoles Cons Only two controller ports (yes you can set it for more controllers but that requires more money), graphics aren't at the standard of the X-box
X-box:
Pros Great bundle package offer, games like Halo and Splinter Cell, ability to go online in 2003 Cons Controller - some people have found it rather annoying, depth of games, especially in the adventure genre

Personally, I recently bought an X-Box and I am very happy. If you do buy the xbox, get the Massive Entertainment pack and the PS2 itself is on sale for $285. I also suggest you do your homework when buying games, as they can be a big risk. Try renting some from the video store and if you like it then buy it.

Gamecube is a steal these days...dont know how much the console is but new release games at $65 and I saw Rogue Leader for $30 in the mail today. that is amazing, I wish that game was on xbox.

I've seen, and I love. In fact I'd say it's the most beautiful game I've ever seen.

It's also only the fourth game ever to receive a 40/40 in Famitsu - one of the most respected gaming mags in the world.

p2s by a mile for me.

1) great games. MetaL Gear Solid, GTA 3 + Vice City and very soon Tenchu 3.

2) good controller.

3) i am in their key demographic and as a result find myself being catered for.

4) my friends have ps2's and i can easlily borrow games.

True.

Sort of.

I've read that if you have a modchip that has an on/off switch, then as long as you leave it OFF while you're connected to Xbox Live, th en you should be ok. (if you turn it ON while you're on Xbox Live, then apparently it bans your Xbox for life. ie. If you want to use Live again, then youd best buy a new Xbox.)

Now, that is only what I've read, although it's fairly widespread. (lots of people saying it)

Also, you'll obviously need the original copy of a game if you want to play it online anyway.

Me? I'm not going to risk it. It's a bit of a shame really as i'd love to chip my Xbox for i mport reasons (being a fairly up-to-date gamer, I need games as they come out; not 6 months later) but i guess I'll have to wait for my Xbox games as I'm not missing out on Xbox Live.

Now bring on the Freeloader for Gamecube says I. :)
