Ok, before i get shot down. I have searched the forums here.
I have also searched other forums on other sites. Many here and there are old and somewhat outdated and would be inclined to say this is more of an opinion thread.
I am on the verge of saying "yes" in my head to getting a novated lease. I have written out a list of pros and cons, i have sat and written figures of loans and leasing etc etc, Cost over life of loan vs over a lease.
Im here trying to get a different perspective on it, as thus far all my figures and suggestions lead to the fact that a lease is a hell of a lot better. My task is to find reasons why i shouldnt and why i should.
Heres the Facts
60k Salary
Id be nominating 34000 k a year.
Car im looking at is roughly 32000.
No. Just for added info.
I drive 150k Round trip to and from work every day.
Pro's (atleast in my eyes)
Before tax.
No need to worry about fuel if i want to do an extra trip to melbourne or anywhere else.
Currently would make 6k off my current car (so would go onto house and savings)
I get a new car. Im young enough to do this as im single and cos i can.
Cons (again, in my eyes anyway)
Never own it until..............
Residule. Have to pay it out in the end.
If i go Away (hyperthetically) overseas, or Somehwere thats not here, Im still paying for it with fuel and maint etc etc. However with a loan on a car. im only obliged to pay the car each week and do my own usage in fuel.
Over three years, which is what i would do with the lease. A car with a loan, on the average i drive, would be approx (with maint fuel, rego, insurance included, again, on average) is about 5 grand dearer than a lease, but that is after tax, where as the lease is before.
Anyway. Any advice or pushing in one direction would be great.
I come here to ask as my old man has a lease and swears by it, alot of blokes at work have them and swear by them, and whils not being one of the sheep. The amount i spend on a car already a week is pretty phenomenal.
Also, although itll be a decent chunk out of pay. After three years and a risidule, i own the car.
