Thought he wasn't there, did you change it, or am I going blind?

I put him in for you.

Did you play Roo or Kosi first year?

While we can react very hastily on tonights game, it would be disastrous for us to bring in kids that arent ready for AFL.

We lost to arguably the best team in the land, and boy, werent they impressive, I havent seen movement of the ball like that since the late, great Brisbane sides!!!

Look folks, we are not up to the standards to compete at that level! Nor should we be, we just "won" the wooden spoon!! I was still very impressed with the way we are going about things, im serious, I saw a heap of positive signs out there tonight, alot of negative, but some positives that we should all be happy to see!

Brett Deledio will be a star, no doubt about it, this kid once fully developed will be a games great, has it all but has the quickness that some just dont possess!

Shane Tuck is already a very good footballer. He is tall, strong, couragous, hard at it and all his possessions aree hitting targets! He gives us a guy we can trust in the heart of the midfield for a long, long time, he is so desperate I love this guy!

Mark Coughlan is back to his best. Went with one of the best footballers I have seen in Luke Ball and beat him tonight which is no mean feat! He won more of the ball and more of the contests and to do that on Luke Ball is a major bonus. Now is the time to unleash him, let him free and he will be at his hard at it best and get the 25 - 30 disposals he was getting in his B & F year!!

Chris Hyde will always wear a place in my heart for his couragous play. He is a workhorse who has improved his skills so much he is now a very valuable team member and that contest with Matty Maguire (well done too son) will never be forgotten in this Tigers heart! Before that, he was winning the ball out of the centre and giving his all for the cause!

Trent Knobel, also another workhorse!! Tried his guts out and was not beaten today, has done his job and keeps improving, very satisfied with him!

Alot of negatives my main gripe is with Simmonds and his non performance, just needs to get angry like last year again. Has the ability but now is time for the results, needs more time on the ball!!! But I cant say too much else, we will have our ups and downs, but its alot better than last year and previous seasons, I see a light at the end of this tunnell!!!!

If we played 11 first and second year players every week this would do them more harm than good. Firstly, these players need to learn that you need to work for your spot in the team, not just be given a game whether you deserve it or not. We had three of that list in tonight and another 2 only out because of injuries (3 if you consider Tambling was returning from injury). If the others are any good, they will force their way into the team soon enough. Secondly, putting so many in at once would be throwing them to the wolves. Let them come along gradually and build up their confidence and footy nouse instead of expecting them to be our saviours in their first two years at the club. We've had two big losses against 2 teams that will be top 4 this year. While that is a reality check, its hardly cause to hit the panic button considering where we finished last year.

Roo was injured and didn't play till about round 15.
Kosi played the whole year and got the Rising Star.
Ball missed his first season due to him wanting to play for school and also injury.
Goddard played his whole first season as well, missing two or three.

Disagree. If it is best for their development to be playing every week then fine. One thing that strikes me every time I watch us is that we have a lot of skinnier bodies on our list. I want to see our players physically dominating. I want to see the kids who come in to the team know that they can give as good as they get. It is important putting their physical development very high on the list in this regard. There are always going to be other factors - e.g. freaks like Tambling who are not going to be that intimidating type of footballer, but I would not think it was wise to make hard and fast rules like that.

Boys, Boys, Boys...

Im not saying play them all together.

However, the following must play every match;

Deledio
Tambling
Hartigan
Meyer
Jackson
Schulz

Fact is Lids, Bling, Hatigan are, clearly in our best 22. Jackson and Shultz have mature bodies and must be allowed to develop and be played in every game unless form says other wise. Meyer is class. He does have a smallish body but if the likes of Monfires and Ray can play AFL there is no reason not to play the lad.

I relise team balance and the fact you cannot have a dozen kids. However, If form warrant id play a couple of;

Moore
Pattison
Raines
Roach
Gilmour

Along with the Jacksons and Deledios.

So apart from putting Meyer in the "must plays", you're saying we should do exactly what we are doing now? :confused:

Meyer & Schultz in the must plays.

Id like us to be more aggresive in the development;

Moore
Pattison
Raines
Roach
Gilmour

We should be selecting our best side every week. If that means 11 kids who have earned their spot on merit, then fine. If that means 0 kids because they are not performing, then fine. There must be no free games for the kids otherwise they will go down the Fiora/Pettifer path of under-development.

The Fiora/Pettifer path of under development came about from then consistently not being played in their best positions.

That's part of it, but I still feel it also had to do with not being made to earn their positions in the side. What incentive is their to lift your performance if you're going to get picked anyway?

After last nights game there are spots for the taking I would think.
