Additional Rules:
Trade Week - the Freagle Captain can recruit one Eagle in exchange for a packet of chips, but they have to do it within the first three rounds.

HeavenChat - discussion between dead/exiled players is quarantined from the thread in a PM group I'll establish after the first lynching.

Preseason Competition - consisting of a day where everyone can establish themselves and their characters prior to the first kill.

No Runners - no PMs between active competitors, all strategy talk conducted in thread.

Converting - if the Freagle Captain converts the Match Analyst or the Club Doctor, a new player will be picked to fill that role. A new player will not be picked to replace the Club Doctor if the power to save an attacked player has already been used.

ACTIVE ROLES:
Freagle Captain
- can convert an Eagle during Trade Week (see above).

Freagle - work it out, Einstein.

Match Analyst - the MA can ask the compere about any player to find out whether they're the Freagle or not, but only once per round. They have to find a way to convince people to follow their lead without being identified by the Freagles as the MA, or risk death!

Club Doctor - every night, after the Freagles have picked who to kill the Club Doctor will be given the opportunity to save them, but they can only use this power once. They can save it for themselves (assuming they aren't evicted) or use it to save someone else. After that, they'll have run out of panadol and caffeine tablets.

The Eagles are 0/5 so that does suggest balance issues
Some ideas to offset it
-have a Flog PM
-have a Vigilante with a night kill every second night
-have a fake seer

No idea how active evil PMs are in these games as I’m yet to be evil but the suggestion to only allow pm chatter during night is a decent leveliser

Can you give some more details on the first and last option? What's a Flog PM? How does a fake seer work?

I was thinking of going with the version of the doctor where he can heal every night, but he chooses a target before the wolves. Was also going to add the witch, who can resurrect one player, and murder one player during the game.

Seer, Doctor and Witch vs no more than two Freagles (likely one if current predicted low player count comes to pass) with no conversion should be better balanced I think. This game we ended up with 1 Freagle for every 4 Eagles which is out of whack.

A flog pm is a PM with 2 or 3 villagers in it and the Mod , and it allows them to chat amongst themselves and also act aa known good .

The sort of Doctor you’re describing is the doctor role I’m familiar with . I like the witch /jack of all trades role but would add a once off heal too.

I wonder if having all 3 will lead to it being too unbalanced the other way .

The games I’ve played have been 2/3 good 1/3 evil or neutral but it’s different when there are other evil /neutral parties as they can take out each other . I don’t know what the optimal ratio is for these sorts of games.

A fake seer or Jobe is a seer which is fed incorrect info . They often don’t know that they’re a fake seer (but that’s if there’s also a real one).

"Flogs" are 2-3 villagers who know each other's roles and are able to discuss the game via PM. I've used the role previously to go fishing knowing who my colleagues are.

A fake seer is told incorrect information about another player. Kinda useless with so few roles although you could use a 50% seer in that they'll be told correct info half the time. It makes the seer doubt themselves until their information has been validated.

I’m due to be evil so part of me just wants to keep this skew towards evil so I don’t rue it when I am

I‘ll sit the next game out and maybe offer suggestions from the sidelines

Almost like an unofficial (but still just as clueless) villager

The Sweet FA board is hosting a game if anyone is interested in joining in

Don't do that MWPP, the game needs you!
Isn’t that all the more reason to do it?
I’m no use to the village when dead
And I reckon we could’ve won last game and become closer this one had I survived ...

Everyone sounds a bit burnt out. Should we take a week off and start signups next weekend?
No I need my fix
A break isn’t a bad thing given the footy
Sign up here in the meantime :)

Yeah but if you're not an actual player, it takes the fun out of trying to interpret what you say.
Also takes the annoyance out of being killed , and still allows participation. For as long as it’s allowed as an option it’s a tempting one.

Everyone is quoting the 0/5 record but that's primarily down to poor play from the villagers rather than game balance.

I don't want us to shift that balance too much and make the first win for the villagers a non-event.
I don’t think the village has played that poorly though - it’s just that with no known good , evil’s mistakes (and yeah - they’ve made them. Both games) have been allowed to slide. I think it is a balance issue. Having a Vig who can take out people at night might be the first useful change . Most of the time probability says they’ll end up hitting good so they could strategically opt not to put in a kill .

I thought the village were pretty reasonable in this one given a lack of info. Another role that gives information back to the Eagles would be golden because then you start getting "gotcha" moments.
