After a low-key buildup, these two very different sides were both desperate to cement their seasons. When matchday arrived, the first and second quarters went to script, with the margins being under a goal at each of the first two changes. In the premiership quarter, the phoenix, lead by brilliant captain Chipmunk , flew to another level, kicking 9 unanswered goals to take a huge 55 point win at 3 quarter time en route to an impressive 50 point win. While skipper Chipmunk (95 DT, 1 goal) was easily the best on ground and was the one who provided plenty of highlights for the reel, it was still an even team performance with contributions from everyone from veterans like Itsmyshow (4 goals) to the raskolnikov (69 DT) and talented rookie sey666 (65 DT). On a tough day for the Bombers, Bovo (76 DT) could hold his head high and TheCoach16 (3 goals) manufactured chances from limited supply and could easily have had 3 more goals.

After a low key buildup , the Royals hosted the Wonders . With both sides desperate for a win, it was the home side that dominated the first quarter and took a 27 point advantage at quarter time, before the Wonders fought back to pinch a 1 point lead at the main change. The premiership quarter remained hard fought, with the Wonders ruing their 6 misses as they trailed by 8 points at 3 quarter time. It was shaping up to be a classic final quarter, but it wasn't to be, as the Royals were too classy as they found another gear to outrun their opponents in a 5 goal to 2 final term en route to an impressive 26 point victory. Newly crowned Royals skipper CakeEater (115 DT, 3 goals) had his cake and ate it too in a brilliant best on ground performance that was the difference between the two teams, with support from teammates krakouers (84 DT), Memphis (74 DT, 2 goals) and Camros2 (64 DT, 3 goals) . For the Wonders, SunshineBoy (89 DT), , AnUltimateRessie (85 DT) and LukeParkerno1 (79 DT) never gave up whilst the classy SweetD (4 goals) was the top goalscorer off limited supply.

After a low-key buildup , these two historically inconsistent sides were determined to live up to their fighting names and turn their seasons around. The furies were determined to give their fans something to cheer about as they hosted the warriors, and took all their chances in an entertaining first quarter and held a 5 point lead at the first change. They continued their efficiency/accuracy as they piled on 5 goals to 4 to take a handy 11 point lead at the main break. While the furies never stopped trying, the Warriors managed to find another gear in the premiership quarter in a comeback lead by brilliant skipper Tonga Bob to give themselves a 13 point lead at 3 quarter time. The warriors maintained their ascendency in the final term, kicking 6 goals to 4 en route to a crucial 25 point win. Brilliant skipper Tonga Bob (102 DT, 15 hitouts) was best on ground as teammates FootyGuy13 (91 DT), @pantskyle (92 DT) , SBYM (92 DT) and Agent93 (84 DT) all benefited from the silver service. Talented rookie Purple7x08_24 (5 goals) launched his career with am impressive haul. For the furies , young captain Pickitt (88 DT) lead from the front and never gave up, whilst crazywildhorse (99 DT) and Scythe94 (75 DT, 3 goals) could also hold their heads high in a losing cause.

In Wordle Round, the inconsistent Swamprats (still reeling from a 32 point loss to the reigning premiers, the Roys after a strong start) hosted the unbeaten, top-of-the ladder Bombers (who had respected their newbie Old Boy opponents but notched an impressive 30 point win on the back of a dominant 10 goal second quarter). This matchup between two such different teams, both on and off the field , did not go too script at all as the Swamprats made the most of their chances against their inaccurate opponents, kicking 3.0 to 1.5 to take a shock 7 point win at quarter time. They extended this lead a little in the 2nd quarter before finding another gear in the third quarter to take a handy 26 point win at the final change. The Swamprats then sent a message to the competition by holding the Bombers goalless whilst piling on 5 goals of their own to finish with a shock 60 point win in one of the upsets of the season. Veteran okeydoke7 (4 goals) added some more substance to his CV and was the main beneficiary of the dominance from the likes of HirdsTheWord (80 DT) , Ticky009 (79 DT) and Firestarter (77 DT). Veteran The Greatest ava (95 DT) was best on ground but had little support in an otherwise grim day for the Bombers.

In wordle round the struggling, officially winless Phoenix were buoyed by their 84 point win against their celebrity "bye" opponents and hosted the inconsistent Dragons (who were coming off a gutsy first win against the season against fellow strugglers the Warriors). With both teams desperate to continue their recent winning form and begin the long climb up the ladder, the first quarter delivered, with 1 goal separating the teams at the first change. The Dragons appeared to find another gear in the second quarter and threatened to take the game away from the Phoenix as they extended their lead to 20 points at the main change, but the Phoenix lifted in the premiership quarter, piling on 6 goals to 3 to narrow the deficit to just 3 points. The final quarter was a high scoring shootout with finals-like intensity and multiple lead changes . Although the Dragons lead by as much as 15 points and the Phoenix by as much as 11 points in this epic last quarter, the final margin was a fitting draw, with the final score on the back of a crucial behind to akkaps in the final minute of the game. This game had many notable individual performances and special moments for the highlights real from both sides. For the phoenix, mwerps (90 DT , 2 goals) combined well with her skipper Chipmunk (96DT , 2 goals) as veteran big man Itsmyshow (6 goals, 76 DT) wound back the clock in a vintage shootout against dragons counterpart Hatchy1992 (6 goals, 70 DT). The talented serial_thrilla (116 DT, 2 goals) was best on ground for his team but was well supported by many of his other teammates including the evergreen Pie 4 Life (94 DT) and talented youngster DragoDelph (93 DT).

In Wordle week the successful , star-studded Demons (who were coming off a 13 point win against the brae Wonders) hosted the reigning premiers, the Roys (who had backed up a tricky early-season bye with an impressive 32 point win against the rats). This game was billed as the match of the round, but did not go to script at all. Demons shocked the Roys with a 10 goal to 3 first quarter before backing it up further dominance in the second (8 goals to 2) and third (5 goals to 3) quarters. While the Roys managed 5 goals of their own whilst limiting the Demons (who had understandably taken the foot off the accelarators) to 2 goals in the final change, the end result was still a commanding 75 point win to the Demons which sent a strong message to the competition. The Demons had many multiple goal kickers and played like a champion team who happened to also be a team of champions. Champion trio sante (106 DT , 3 goals), Tarkyn_24 (102 DT) and Proper Gander (103 DT) all wound back the clock in outstanding performances as their skipper manangatang (90 DT, 2 goals) was also as impressive as ever. For the Roys, Allikat (101 DT, 2 goals) , JackNah_8 (97 DT, 2 goals) , and DERRINALPHIL (89 DT, 1 goal) were rare shining lights on an otherwise dark day.

The high flying Demons were fresh from the bye, having won all four games this season and tucked in nicely behind the leaders Gumbies by a sliver of percentage. The Dragons, after a fairly symetrical 2-2-1 start to the season, had collected a 4 goal win over the Roys last week and were looking to build on that for a top four challenge.

Demons got out of the blocks early with goals from cooney and DemonJim. An entertaining quarter saw 10 goals shared, with the highlights being goals from Hatchy1992, Hate and Crimsonviolet. Demons let by 2 goals at quarter time and the match was shaping up to be a shootout.

Only somebody forgot to mention this fact to the Dragons, who despite the efforts of serial_thrilla and Blaze Storm, were blown away and an absolute exhibition by the Demons. Bluelegs with 4 in the uarter and Yakker with 2 led the charge to an 8-goal Demons quarter, leaving the dragons with a 40-odd point mountain to climb in the second half.

The Demons came out fighting in the second half, with early goals to Braklet and Ashman OG but normal service was soon resumed, with Azarole, CrimsonViolet and sante piling on. By the final change, this was really just a training run for Bluelegs and CrimsonViolet, who piled on another 5 between them - Bluelegs finishing with 9 for the game and CrimsonViolet 4 - to complete a sensational win.

Only percentage sits between the Royals and tops spot, after a hard earned win over the Wonders last week. After an indifferent start to the season, compounded with a 2 point penalty on the books, the Swamprats had dropped out of the eight after losing at home to leaders Gumbies last week.

That defeat last week must have stung because the Rats charged out of the blocks, with Power Raid grabbing a goal with just 4 seconds on the clock. Our statisticians are still checking but we believe that to be a world record. He added another before the Royals even knew what hit them. Okeydoke7 grabbed a couple for himself before the Royals finally got a major on the board via dartmann, with 5 minutes left.

Power Raid and Okeydoke7 continued to run riot on the second, aided and abetted by Ant Bear and Ulahoopski. A single solitary kick from Memphis was the only retord the Royals could muster.

With a mountain to climb to salvage anything from this game, the Royals got to work after the main break. The Filth Wizard grabbed a couple and Lomas and nahnah opened their accounts in a very good (for the Royals) quarter, which saw them put on 6 majors and keep the Swamprats scoreless. Only 4 points in it now, so this was anybody's game.

An early goal for SarahSmiles gave hope but then the Rats put on the afterburners, with Ant Bear and RPCB contributing another 4 goals and the Royals didn't score again.

This one was a battle of the basement dwellers, with the Warriors despite a very good win over the Furies last week. The Bears were only percentage points off the bottom after also snagging a good win over the new Old Boys last week. This had all the hallmarks of a classic blood and thunder contest.

The first quarter was all Warriors with FurTheWin and Dinsdale getting on the scoreboard. The 19 point margin at QT could have been higher but for a series of embarrassing misses in the middle of the term, and a settler for the Bears from Art Vandalay late on.

Cap and Millky95 tried hard to get the Bears back in the game. Dinsdale and pantskyle kicked multiples, with a supporting cast of Agent93 and Tonga Bob set the Warriors on a path to a near 6 goal lead at half time.

The Bears came out determined in the third and did grab a couple of early goals to give them some hope of catching the Warriors but then Dinsdale and Piggy Smalls snuffed those out, before the rest of the quarter turned into something of an arm wrestle. But with a 48 point deficit to overcome in the final term, it wasn't looking likely. The Bears did control the last quarter with an impressive 6-goal term thanks to Broken and Muddlemoose but it was too little too late.
