Autopsy 2023 Rd 13 Another loss. Devoid of headline material

It didn’t work with Ratten, it didn’t work with Bolton, it didn’t work with Teague, but sure it’ll work with Voss.

So infuriating to see people not understanding the definition of insanity
put an argument forward.

Saying we can't sack another coach is facile in the extreme....

Again, my son will wake up and first thing he will ask is did the Blues win and I will have to tell him no.

Lucky he is too young to understand so he will put his Carlton jumper on and go to Kinder.

Silver lining is that it's a public holiday tomorrow

This team is now in the bottom four, with the Hawks breathing heavily down our necks.

Vossy is a problem, but the footballing department is a problem too, and so are the players as well.

This football club has been a total and utter circus since the salary cap fiasco, so it's kind of obvious that our problems go beyond whoever is sitting inside the coaches box imo.

This season has been an absolute disaster. Are we going to find some semblance of form and restore some pride, or is there lower depths for us to plunge to before the year is out?

I feel like there was no backup plan made for "What if Merret plays" forward. Seems like we were scrambling for this positional change.

Only brightside is Kemp/Charlie/Cerra are the only players on the list that hasn't gone backwards.

Mostly everyone else either has dipped in form or lost a lot of confidence.
Charlie's kicking at goal is now arguably worse than Harry's./....

Carlton must back Voss. We can’t afford to kill another coach.

Brian Cook is a good operator and said earlier he guaranteed that Voss would coach until the end of next year but said we’d need changes in the football department.

Give the keys to Austin and Cook and see what happens.

Carlton can’t afford to do what Carlton does and find a scapegoat. Voss needs to be surrounded by better assistants, the midfield needs to be completely retooled for the modern game.
So don't scapegoat but also scapegoat the assistants and midfielders.

Yes if Voss goes, he’d merely be the first domino. There is going to be carnage at the club, on and off field for the rest of this season and end of the season.

Only 1 Carlton player had more tackles than Dow. Let that sink in people who say he doesn’t deserve a shot.
The Dow narrative is tripe.

He is going. Clearly. However the club shouldn't play favourites. Reward the kid and give him a game where he starts...

Something something selection integrity, isnt it?

15mins of opposition gear shift. Game over.

We were figured out by Adelaide. Opposition coaches paid attention, Voss didn’t and either doesn’t care or is too arrogant to change anything.

We went off the chain for a half and looked good. After HT went back into our shells, * lifted the heat, 6 goals, games done. Cue in the rack. Coaches also know that our skills are so bad that they can ease off after they shift down gears again.

Literally every one of our losses from then are the same script - it’s that predictable.

Director of football should be putting a business case for specialist skills coach - kicking - right now.
We were figured out by opposition coaches mid last year. Put aside our 2022 start, and our record is not great.

Add to this even in the first half.of 2022, some wins, were W on paper but gee we were lucky. PORT and particularly Hawthorn game come to.mind

The Filth and that shower from Windy Hill, have gone past on us on their respective rebuilds.

I thought that the heartbreak of last year would have driven the players on, but instead it's broken them. What a sad and sorry state of affairs.

Personally, I can. Signs were there from the first month, yet many didn't want to believe it. Even had one of the mods here perform a victory lap on my posts suggesting we were a basket case pre: West Coast game.

Well, we are a basket case, there's no doubt. Voss has to go, both for being no good and for the fact that the players seem to have, once again, decided that the coach is the problem.

Fun times!
1000%. Signs were there in the draw

Pies turned it around literally overnight, no reason we can't do the same.

Reality is Voss ain't going to be that man (person).

Live with it.

I think most of us on here have been doing it tough for the past 28yrs.

I am 5th generation, my 4-2yr olds are 6th generation.

Again, my son will wake up and first thing he will ask is did the Blues win and I will have to tell him no.

Lucky he is too young to understand so he will put his Carlton jumper on and go to Kinder.

However, my poor 11yr old and 8yr old nephews comprehend how bad we are and it must be crushing for them.

I feel bad that we have brainwashed another generation to go thru this crap.
My 10 yo son has lost interest. I tried for years and years . He doesn't care anymore. He has quit AFL and now walks around in soccer gear.
Another one lost because of poor results since his birth

There is a lot of reasons why we can’t.

They had past success to look back on and genuine leaders.

However I think with some shrewd acquisitions, decent run with injury and proper pre seasons to our list, we can push for finals next year. Oh and a game style which suits our list and has buy in.

He has broken the team. The club in fact. Thats what precipitated this decline. I’m not a “sack the coach” person but it’s now untenable. A few others need to go with him too but Voss should be removed asap. He has no answers and isn’t completely sure what the questions are.
There might be a bigger problem and that is when they decide to advertise the coaching position , maybe no one will apply as they know they are on a hiding to nothing

Not under Voss.

I don’t really agree with that. I mean the bar as been lowered so far this season, expectations won’t be that high for whoever comes in.

Essendon got rid of rutten after only 2 years and that included a finals appearance. Didn’t seem to turn Brad Scott off.
