Laird. 2 position versatility
What 2 positions??

He is middle now or nothing. Unless he puts his hand up for small defender, his time at HB is gone according to many, and to be honest seeing Milera, Hinge and Michaelanney at HB I now have to agree.

He night be defensive but his skills cost us plenty so we end up defending more than we should

Should probably finish on the fourth highest percentage if GWS gets up tomorrow so it's highly unusual to miss finals. Bad umpiring, one of the hardest draws in the league, poor kicking for goal, coming up against some teams that played considerably better than their average performance, losing key defenders (two to acl's) and finishing 9th in scores against has led to us missing finals. I feel we are a better team than
3-4 teams in the top 8 so it's a bitter pill to swallow. We need to improve in the ruck, midfield and defence.

Good
Soligo Walker Dawson Rachele Hinge

Bad
Goal kicking at times.
Borlase and Parnell dont seem up to it.
ROB. Terrible ruck. Would trade him out and go for pretty much anyone that's better.

Ugly
The AFL. Corrupt pricks.

Good

Tex put together a legendary season, sad he doesn’t get a chance to play finals this year

Soligo is the future - class moments all night and showed a bit more zip and agility than I thought he had

Rachele finished season strong

Gollant has a future and is AFL , can also pinch hit in ruck

Bad

ROB was poor in his 100th, not handballing to Rankine was the last straw

Still trying to work out why/how the selectors dropped Nank then brought in Parnell and not Nank , real head scratcher

Some of our inaccuracy is fatigue , some of it is being selfish at times and not finding best option . It needs fixing as priority or we will cough up more games

Fogarty had a shocker last 3 games and looked devoid of confidence again , unable to break shackles and run to present to good spots . Hopefully can play a full season next year ; comp for spots will be high

Knew it wouldn't take long to start bashing Crouch again.

He was a beast inside again last night. I think he's playing even better than 2017 which is hard to believe.

Laird was also pretty good.

Crouch playing at that level with Dawson and laird is a better midfield than we've had for a while. Same problem as always though in that it's one paced. Much more rotation from Pedlar, Rachele, Soligo and Rankine next year is required.

Where is the Crouching bashing coming from. He had a top match last night. Some may want to watch the game in replay mode again. I can't recall any clangers of significance but the possession and disposal to advantage were many.

Remember also that Sydney would've also had to win today against Melbourne to stay in....
There’s no real incentive for Melbourne to win today.
They’ll get a home final against the pies at home if they lose or go to Brisbane if they win and port lose

Laird or Crouch

Pick one. Who are you taking?
Crouch. He is a better inside mid. Hus distribution by hand to outside players is great. He is a 360 degree player.

Laird is really just a straightline player shoehorned into an inside mid.

Push Laird outside and keep Crouch inside.

No Sloane and keep Keays at HF.

Interesting looking at our CBAs in the early rounds of this season

Were spread over a lot more players. Seemed a welcome philosophical change and perfect for a developing midfield.

However... that was pre-Dawson the midfielder.

Was the "philosophical change" more a case that we simply didn't have a standout preferred group of 4 mids to soak up all the centre bounces?

But over the season we've headed back to our preferred set up

In two minds about Crouch. He has easily been in our best 3 since coming back and has looked really good. Would prefer him in the midfield rather than Laird and definitely Sloane. Sloane resigning may have cost him his AFC career.
