Death, Taxes and Norf at Etihad. Every... ********... Year.

Since 2003:

14 times at Marvel.

2 times in Tassie.

1 in Cairns.

8 at the 'G.

Norf with the home ground advantage in 16 of our last 25 meetings...

In fact,

We have only played them in consecutive games at the 'G once since 1999-2000.

Norf have played us in games at Docklands consecutively 4 times since then.

One of them included a consecutive streak of 4 and if it it weren't for the 2 games in Tassie it would have made it 3 streaks of 4 games consecutively at Docklands.

With the fixture there will always be a couple of certainties

  • Will play North and Saints at Marvel (if we don't play them both then AFL will throw a home game against Bulldogs, Sydney & Gold Coast games there)
  • Will always play Adelaide teams more times in Adelaide than in we do in Melbourne

how do pies win the flag and blooze finish 3rd and we get 6 interstate (+ geelong) so 7 really and they only get 5

how is that fair

we finished 14th

How are collingwood meant to get 30 games at the G and a bonus 150k crowd aggregate with perfect time slots if they play interstate

How the heck does Geelong "hocking still hs his contacts at AFL House" only play one top 6 team. The only other teams North and the Eagles play one top 6 team which is understandable.
they wanna send tommy 'gonna do ya acl' hawkins off with finals

We basically have a home game at Norwood because the return game against saints is definitely not our home game lol. Why do teams not adopting etihad as their home have to play any home games there. If North stop selling games to tassie we won’t have to make up for games needed to be played at etihad.

They get kissed on the dick every year with the fixture. Campaigners haven't played at Kardinia Park for 30 years or so. They always get less interstate games too.
The big clubs don’t come down the Highway pal.

why don't they just ship the stands from the G to Norwood for gather round

No need to stress. 8 teams make the finals out of 18. If we don’t make it we’re not good enough. And ‘double-up’ predictions are always pointless, as most teams go up and down like yo-yo’s year to year. In 2023 double ups against Dogs, Tigers (finalists and getting Hopper/TT), Cats and Freo didn’t look ideal and double ups against Saints and GWS looked golden - season turned out completely differently.

And lots of interstate trips shouldn’t worry us - if the Tigers are purring we love interstate trips.

And whilst we don’t have Friday nights, we do still get Blues ‘R1’, Demons Anzac Day Eve and Dreamtime. So we are hardly light on for blockbusters and didn’t exactly deserve a great fixture after 2023.

My main gripe is Saints in our home game at Marvel. Other than that there’s some good and bad like I’m sure all teams think about their own fixture.
