For the most part I think it's only in BFworld and other ratbag-infested internet fora; I think out in the reality-based world we're still greatly admired and respected.

But it does concern me, particularly with McGoo and his Word-of-Megaphone means of disseminating disinformation going full bottle right now, that some of the scheisse will stick. What a disingenuous prick that man is.
This.

McGoo and the Dorks are in a coalition to watch each other's backs and have both committed to a long and slow smear campaign against Sydney. They know if we bag another flag and continue to play finals in the years to come we will grow very quickly and threaten their dominance, especially once GWS rises and a true rivalry begins to make the papers in Sydney.

For the most part people like Sydney, and a lot of the time Bigfappy is actually a pretty sad and extremist place for the most part.

I wrote this on Knightmare's phantom draft page

I appreciate all your great work Knightmare as I find the information you provide on this thread to be very valuable but I can't help but wonder if you are overrating Heeney's ability. Yes he seemed quite good in the championships but he did not set the world on fire and he was playing against second division sides. Don't get me wrong, I think he is good but I also think that the media attention he has gotten recently has over inflated his value and had people assuming he is a better player than he actually is at the moment.

as I was genuinely curious as while from what I have seen of Heeney he seems good I just did not understand the hype with him as he doesn't look like the best midfielder in the draft to me based on what I have seen (and remembering last year we were all talking about how he was probably going to be a second round draft pick and now Eddie has talked about him suddenly he is the best midfielder in the draft. Anyway this is what Knightmare said in response.

On Heeney he's generally rated behind Petracca and to some Brayshaw and I expect both to have stronger immediate impacts than Heeney, particularly with Sydney such a challenging team to break into.

I just like Heeney's scope to improve more. He's round one, season one ready if the opportunity is there but I see his development following a curve similar to that of David Swallow where with some seasons in the system he'll really take off and become a star in his own right.

I feel Heeney is largely being underrated in the most part and is badly underrated on bigfooty. He's got the best balance of inside/outside in this draft. He's an excellent athlete but then also has that strength and hardness inside. Skills haven't been spoken about enough and by hand and foot is terrific and has that vision/decision making combo. He's got the versatility to play forward or back if required but is a natural midfielder. Strong mark on the lead and in the air and can hit the scoreboard. Also while Petracca from a footballing growth standpoint has been a massive improver and one of the most improved given his change of role but Heeney to an even greater extent has shown that footballing growth going from a guy who was a possible first rounder but probably more a second rounded to arguably the best midfielder in the draft and in my view the best rounded and most complete midfielder. Love everything I've seen of him and Sydney have a real star to look forward to. I'm expecting Heeney continues his rapid improvement and to become the best midfielder in the draft. Outside of possibly Wright as a big I'm not seeing anyone else with close to the upside of Heeney. He's one I'll remain red hot on until draft day and have seen more than enough of his games to back in my current evaluation of his talent.

Gippsland vs Rams

Josh dunkley for gippsland 2 goals named in the best, not sure of his possessions.

Mills scored 1 and named in the bests. heeney scored 1 not named in the bests. Not How many disposals for either.

Heeney that's it don't play so well haha..

Heeney supposably got a head knock and then a broken nose in 3rd. Played on.

He will fit in quite nicely

Any relations to the fyffe at freo? Not a name you hero to often.

Heeney a certain for us, probably touch and go with Davis, possibly hiscox.

Did I just hear right (road to the draft)... Mills had 40 touches, 18 contested in that game on the weekend

His draft position is just about decided already.

Sure did 18 contested , not bad for an under ager
chalk down number 1 thanks. I was watching him in the U18s and he just oozed class, he has some mongrel about him as well. Cant wait to get our hands on Dunkley and Mills oh yeah and Heens!

Just on all of these guys as well, Mills Dunks, Heeney etc I dont really care what the what the AFL do with the changing of the Academy rules and or Father son, as long as we can pick these guys up we are winning. If it means we have to give up all our draft selections next year for the Mills and Dunks then so be it, even if we have trade a player for a pick to meet the requirements maybe in the 20's up to acquire these players I still think its worth it. Dunkley and Mills could the equivalent of picks 1 & 2

Not sure if the AFL is going to allow us to get both Mill's and Dunkley... The Victorian clubs would have a riot.

If we are able to I would expect both of them to cost us at least our first 4 selections in the national draft and possibly even any selections we would get from free agency (Just a gut feeling but I think any compensation we get from free agency may have to be used for the academy to appease the Victorian clubs).

What kind of law will they make up preventing us getting Mills and Dunkely? im sure they will make it as tough as possible but physically stopping us from getting them both will open a huge can of worms.

Hence the reason why their legal specialist is reviewing the Academy agreement.

I suspect they never even considered the Academy + F/S combo when it was drawn up.

AFL makes snap decision that proves ill considered? Quelle surprise. :p

So far I would have to say worth it. if those too keep improving... Well can't blame them for kicking up a riot
