Got a lot of love for Frank!

Hugh effort from the man, for what he did to turn the administration around from those bleak days.

Still can hear those bells ringing in Geelong after the 2007 GF win!

Like the poster who said awarding that knighthood showed a lack of ambition, he should have gone all the way and made the Queen a Dame.
Now that would have been something, Liz touching the sword to her own shoulders:D

Frank should have received the knighthood instead of Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh

I cant tell you the reaction here in Europe to Abbott's latest effort. Its embarrassing….

Frank Costa though…..…a worthy Australian receiving an Australian honour well deserved….well done Frank..and heartiest congrats to you. We Geelong supporters are forever in your debt.

Luckily it isn't Prince Phillip dubbing himself a knight. The bumbling fool would probably stab himself!

(OK- I didn't really mean that. I actually like the old coot! ;))

''Look, if a cricketer, for instance, suddenly decided to go into a school and batter a lot of people to death with a cricket bat, which he could do very easily, I mean, are you going to ban cricket bats?'' - Sir Phillipos Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg, speaking on gun control.

"Do you still throw spears at each other?" ;)
Haven't seen these for a while:

No doubt he's still busily adding to them, God love him! :D

When the story of Geelong's modern-day transformation is finally written in full, the amount of references to 'Costa, F.' in the index will be truly astounding.

The man is simply immense in the history of our club.

He already has a concert hall named after him in Geelong (at least I presume Costa Hall is named after him), but wouldn't it be great if one of the new grand stands at Simonds was named after him, or even the "Costa - Cook" Stand, in honour of the men who saved this club.

You'd get no arguments from me. As administrators, they set an extremely high standard that revolutionised our entire organisation.

The onfield success would never have materialised without their massive contributions.

Frank has been simply superb but I have to acknowledge that Cook has a very special place in my heart after all he's done.

When he turned up to a workplace (with which he had no emotional connections) and found that the whole place was a certifiable basket-case, it would have been the work of a moment to simply turn on his heel and walk out.

Instead, he took on the gargantuan job of restoring our fortunes, took our footy club into his heart and went on to make us the envy of every high-level sporting organisation in the land through nothing more than an unrelenting commitment to authenticity, hard work and integrity.

I do look forward to telling my grandchildren about the feats of Scarlo, Corza, Joel, Jimmy, Junior and the rest of our premiership heroes. But I will make certain to mention the other key people who made the club 'great' once again after so many years of dross.

And Frank and Brian will get a good run-out in that discussion, I can assure you.

Think he has a Papal Knightthood too - whatever that honour means.

Good on him. Can I have some shares in the prospective float please Frank?

Just love this guy.
A big group of us were in the Subiaco function room after a Cats v Dockers game several years ago - quite the worse for wear after a great win.
One of the group came back after a pee and said he'd just stood next to Frank at the urinal.
He claimed Frank was going to come and buy us a drink - of couse we all called BS
Lo and behold 3 mins later in walks the great man - he then escorts 8 of us into the Geelong function - tells security "these boys are with me" - buys us the first round and introduces us around.
Now that is a President I'll gladly follow :D

Plus he's taken club loyalty to another level- refusing quite a few offers which would have been, no doubt, very VERY juicy, in order to stay at the GFC well past when his original job was complete.
