???
AFL Club
Hawthorn
Other Teams
Miami Dolphins(NFL)
the player/coach who can do no wrong in the eyes of anyone, which translates into viewers, Merch etc

For years, it was James Hird, even during the supplement saga, he's still got a hell of a lot of admirers

Hodge would also be up there, although, he hasn't had any real stuff ups to test the theory

I think Naitanui. He's a marketers dream - visually he stands out, well spoken, does some freakish things on the field and is a great man off-field with his ambassadorial roles and charity work.

Not just how they play or look guys

A bit extreme here, but if they were to commit a serious crime, the media would be all "boys will be boys"

Steve Johnson is a good example of it
Never seen a player get away with more from the media

Honestly don't think there is a good example of this phenomenon in the AFL these days. The most obvious example from another Australian sport is Shane Warne - who did a tonne of stupid things during his career and yet his popularity always bounced back and left no lasting scars.

Cyril and Nic Nat

Luke Hodge, despite being a massive bellend, faux tough guy and overrated collector of cheap kicks across halfback the media always want to kiss his butt.

Come on mate. That is rubbish and you know it. Yes he is sometimes overrated in the media but he's a great leader and a fantastic footballer. He stands up in big games. And he's tough despite some cheap shots he dished out.

That said, Fyfe is the man now and next year half of China will wear his guernsey.
