Exactly right if Canberra wants to get its footy back it needs to be on its own terms, no-one cares about canberra teams playing against QLD teams except development/recruiting officers of AFL clubs, who unfortunatly pay the bills. The game is built on competition. competitiveness and tribalism...
Yep, tuggers had a big chance to merge with the creek, but they were selfish and have probably got what they deserve. Would of worked, a southern suburbs club heavily funded by the labor club group with licensed premises. But Tuggers shot themselves in the foot, leaving the creek prefering to...
2010 grand final is if not the best Grand Final but the best game I have ever seen. If this doesnt get the juices flowing nothing will http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq63Yqr11W8
Just saw a couple of sydney clubs have joined the NEAFL, Cairns has been mooted in the past, any possiblility of a team going into an expanded northern conference in the NEAFL
At the formation of the nEAFL expansion was talked about and cairns was a possible team that was thought about. I reckon it would be great, it is a surprisingly strong aussie rules area and worthy of a team. Does anyone think it will happen and when??
Is th Lauderdale V Clarence game built up much? You would think there would be a bit of hate there with few players that have played for both clubs, bragging rights on the eastern shore. Based on scores should be a reasonably even match. media should really jump on these games.
Hobart will...
Ainslie probs had 8, 21 or under prob 4 under 19 and 1 17 yr old. Still got some reasonable player sittin in the 2s or out with injury. Should go alright
13.16-94 Hobart def. by North Hobart 15.11-101 TCA
19.13-127 Burnie def. Devonport 9.6-60 West Park
23.15-153 Launceston def. North Launceston 8.8-56
Pretty good result for Hobart given what they have been through the last couple of weeks, devonports result looks slightly...
Living in the past mate belco are no longer the benchmark of the comp (no doubt they were for the decade they were on top). Pretty sure there were 8 or 9 local juniors in last years premiership just under half.
4 out of the 7 selected in that side are local juniors. Hows that sound??? You blokes are clutching at straws probably half the premiership side from last year were local juniors. Not too mention the fact that over the last 4 years Ainslie has had 98% retention over those years.
4 words...
Re: Afl canberra part 3
Mate they are all under 23, how can you say if you were a youngster and they got picked ahead of you you would be dissapointed. Those guys are up there with the best in the competition not just U23, they should defs have a crack at makin GWS, crook should be drafted...
I thought ABCs coverage was pretty good, Soders was classic at least he was getting really excited, I reckon good comentary makes the match. Maney always does a really great job too.
ha yeah it was prob bigger than WAFL and VFL, but thats a bit rich considering the VFL is a joke af a comp and draws fk all. The atmosphere at the WAFL was amazing with 25k in there, if it was an east perth v swans gf it would of drawn as much as the SANFL. Credit to those 2 state comps for...
The reason why Centrals continue to be a successfull unit is, their recruiting strategy and the culture the club has. They recruit players who fit their structure, they may not be the best recruit available but they are the best in a certain area and their personality fits into the club. This is...
Is it just me who is baffled by the fact that they played both grand finals on the same day, where as if the SFL was last week, with no local TSL on they may have even got a bigger crowd, then this week, the TSL stands alone in the state IMO = bigger crowd. The fact of who gets a bigger crowd is...
This is my whole point kingy, why try and fight each other, the state is not big enough to have competition within their competitions. The TSL needs to be the number one product or they might as well just scrap it and bring back the SFL and NTFL. If AFL TAs is the controlling body then take some...
Wish they would hurry up and put the game on ABC iview, looked like a cracker WAFL defs alive and well. you would think if we geta granny without claremont or subi in it in the next couple of years the crowd would be 30k +. I would say the WAFl is the best comp to watch in Aus, the SANFL has...
