It would be logical. The Western branding hasn't exactly hooked people in like they were hoping. Plus it's always an awkward sentence referring to the club as just "Western".
With a home base, becoming something like Wyndham United would give the club stronger identity (in my opinion as a pleb...
This email went out to members today about home games out of Tarneit:
"Dear Member,
Today is a momentous day for our Club. This is what we have all been waiting for – members, fans, players, coaches, and staff.
This is the reason we have all been on this journey together and we all bleed...
I'll be interested to see where these clubs are with their juniors in 5 years time. Juniors tend to move in cycles, and a lot of clubs seem to have short memories. As recently as 2014, Murchison were the only club in the league without juniors.
I'd hate to be a Longwood or VT who have put in...
To be fair, the correctly spelt variant is a proper Gaelic name. It's an uncommon name, but a proper name nonetheless:

After last year's grand final, the last thing the league needs is more coverage of this stuff. Especially when many of our clubs are already struggling to attract families.
I'm not going to pretend I understand the inner workings of AFLGM. Nor do I want to, the AFL are far from my favourite organisation.
My post was more a personal gripe with the treatment of volunteers in community sport in general. Everyone's always got an opinion, but whenever it comes time for...
Obviously it's not a great situation for anyone involved.
But for what it's worth, for all the s**t-canning of the KDL on here and Facebook, at the end of the day they are volunteers. As you said, they had to filter through the by-laws and constitution, on their weekend, and give an answer...
Sounds like the big sell for a lot of clubs was the carrot of a few extra finals to go around.
Not sure how I feel about it yet. I really wonder how lucrative some of the lesser finals will be when there's 5 weeks of finals. Having most sides qualify for finals somewhat blunts the pointy end of...
The Bendigo Advertiser is reporting that the Heathcote League season has been cancelled:

Expansion was botched well-before Heart were even conceived. Giving Victory exclusivity over the entirety of Melbourne has essentially knee-capped any future Melbourne side and was sheer idiocy by the FFA - especially when the Crawford report (correct me if I'm wrong) stated that Melbourne...
The history of the A-League is quite the litany of incompetence from the FFA. The repeated short-sightedness in their decision-making is a major contributor to the struggles the A-League faces today.
From day one, the "one club, one city" immediately made Melbourne, in particular, a difficult...
The initial draw was all over the place.
After round 3, Shepp East's next home game isn't until round 11. There are a few other clumps of consecutive home/away games for other clubs as well - although not as extreme.
I think it's the nondescript "Western" part that everyone takes grievance with, rather than the "United" part.
Wyndham United would be 1000% times better than Western United.
Whilst I am less than enamoured with the name "Western United", the logo slander is a bit rich when this is the logo of one of the biggest clubs in world football:
I would like to be more optimistic, but we've heard all of this before... every year Ardmona are "in a good place and are about to turn things around".
The world doesn't run on good will and rainbows. Their plight has been no secret for years and they have been allowed time to resolve their...
I take no joy in saying this, but I'll believe it when I see it.
I'd love to be proven wrong, as country footy doesn't need another community club to fall by the wayside. However, speaking realistically, I have seen nothing that suggests Ardmona can pull themselves out of the position they've...
Objectively-speaking, is a Shane Crawford-backed Ardmona the solution or just a temporary sugar hit? I have no doubt he could do a lot of good for the profile of the club, but I haven't seen anything to indicate that we wouldn't end up having the same conversation in another 12 months. I don't...
My preference would be a First and Second Division with promotion and relegation like the metro leagues. That would make for a closer competition and wouldn't lock clubs into a particular division (Nagambie in a southern division comes to mind). It's not like there's massive geographic divide...
The alternative is the lesser kids giving the sport up entirely when they don't make the cut at their GV-affiliated junior club.
I'd prefer to see the kids playing for as long as possible, which I personally don't believe the junior competitions are set up to do.
City had an all-black third kit this year I believe.
EDIT: Apparently, Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast and Western Sydney also had third kits (source: Wikipedia)
Firstly, I acknowledge the absurdity of the below – but emotional attachment isn’t really something that can be rationalised.
There were two key points that left a bad taste in my mouth regarding City. Whilst the actual final event was insignificant, it was a culmination of the repeated...
I'll put my hand up and say I will be following Western United.
I followed Melbourne Heart, and I tried to follow City when the CFG takeover occurred, as "Melbourne City" was the name I originally wanted Heart to use. But after the takeover the only thing that the two clubs' had in common was...
I'm hoping that once the stadium is built they'll re-name to "Wyndham United" in the hopes that their "Western" branding has served its purpose and pulled in some of the Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong football catchment. Cast a wide net to start and then consolidate on a clearly-defined area once...
