Thoughts? Hard not to like it being a supporter of the club. Interested in an outsiders view.

Not to bad, could just as easily be an advertising campaign for people to move to the western suburbs though imo, not enough Bulldogs in it.

Only question I have is where/when will the ad be played in order to meet it's target market?

Nice linkage between the 'West' & the Bulldogs, but not an ad I'd suggest that would necessarily be worthwhile playing to a wider 'non West' audience.

For years now the club has been trying to gather support out in the west from the new immigrants that have come in. Short of buying a membership the general public would have barely any idea what the clubs been doing in the local community behind the scenes. They've been holding multicultural days, helping out the disadvantaged youth of the area and things of that nature. This is the first campaign I can remember that has gone public with the clubs vision of being THE western suburbs team of Melbourne.

Think of it as an expansion team. The western suburbs of Melbourne is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. The clubs targeting that demographic to try to get the jump on other clubs in terms of new support.

A criticism of the video I have is that it doesn't have a number to call for membership.

Felt a lot like a Marketing ad to have people move to the West with a couple of clips of some players in the middle.

Don't really like it as a Football Membership Drive, but as a video for the West it was alright.

Expect the troll pisstake versions VERY soon.

the quote "dedicated to preserving the memories of the past" should be changed to ""dedicated to preserving the memory of the past" haha. seriously though i agree with most people here, not bad, but not enough footy.

Certainly makes me not inclined to move to the western suburbs...

Far too "Struggletown" for me. A bit like North should move beyond the whole shinboner thing, the Dogs need to appeal more broadly if they ever hope to get people who don't live in the area to back them.

Show some ripping plays, great current players (not Gia doing seated rows!) and a vid of them singing the song

I live in East Melbourne and reckon I have met 4 people in my entire life who are Bulldogs fans. One of them was David Smorgon

Yeah, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.

Dont like it within the first minute...Seems to be about all this crap about preserving your past, showing all this footscray stuff...but you dropped the name..

Okay watched the rest....Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long with very little emphasis on footy. Seems to be trying to get me to move there rather support the team.

If my club did that id be very disappointed. Also, to much to ask for a HD version?

It is the sort of work that needed to be done alongside the name change when they sold us out.

That being said, I do like it and think it is a good concept. A fair bit of piggy backing going on.

The football almost seemed like an after thought.
They're obviously throwing all their efforts in to fans from the western subs. Which if it succeeds will be a great thing. There is obviously fans to be won out there.

Outside of the west though, it probably won't entice many. Focusing on a specific area is probably a bit of a gamble.

I do like expanding into the area, the multicultural days, the dis-advantaged youth days etc. but one problem. Really whats the point in appealing to people that can't afford a membership to attend games, buy merchandise etc? Thats why targetting areas like point cook would be a good idea, because its more middle class young people as opposed to people that will never be able to contribute financially or contribute to bums on seats for the club.

Are they selling the region or 2012 premiership aspirations, because if it's the latter, they've failed.

Neither. Trying to win the hearts and minds of newcomers to the region and/or existing residents.

I reckon it's a ripping campaign.

In this post, guy fails to understand.

I don't think the club is trying to pitch at people living outside the Western Suburbs, but basically it is saying that while many people are still attached to their old working class roots that was Footscray, there is change that is being embraced with the Western Suburbs being the fastest growing region, not just for migrants but for people who are moving in from other areas.

I lived in Yarraville in 1990, and loved the feel of living in a small village, Yarraville had a really strong sense of community. It was at that time that Yarraville was being discovered - primarily by many of those from South Melbourne who could know longer afford to buy there, but wanted to be 10 minutes from the city. Since then of course it has become incredibly popular.

The same can be said for Richmond with it's narrow streets, and small quaint houses on tiny blocks of land. It was a run down slum back in the 80s, and then became quite trendy because it was close to the CBD.

As a general comment. Does anyone think membership campaigns and slogans really matter that much?

I doubt there are really that many potential members that would be in any way swayed by such things
