Astbury going would be a mistake, seen him take on and beat the likes of gunston, cloke, waite, hawkins and tippett when he was still a bit underdone and needed time and confidence in his recovering frame, only 24 still will be as good as any key big backman in the next few years if his body holds up and confidence returns, would play him before any of batch, chaplin, griff, bean, without hesitation in 2016. he aint backup... leppa had a good crack at him last year too. only negative is daves body may not be up to it for the long haul.
Didn't look great early this year mate , the ? Always remains on his fitness, good, luck to him , he ll get a good go up there

He would be great for them good luck to them and him if he went there. Still think we should have been giving him a run but it was hard to drop anyone

That's a crap deal, a contracted player, that would play ea week for them is worth more than a pick upgrade
Straight swap for redden/Aish or r2 pick
If you think its going to be a straight swap you are dreaming would have to be asbury and our second rounder for redden or aish

I've never seen astbury try and run around nahas on the mark ten metres out from the opposition goal but Chaplin looked awfully slow during the process.

Course you've never seen Astbury try to run around anyone bc he can't run :p

trade him and our second/third for Brisbane's second. trade that second for yarran leaves us with our first to get bennel or go to the draft and get another cellis. then get astbury back for free when we enter our window

Kinda depends what we get in return doesn't it?
People say he's slow, but is he slower than Chaplin?
A glacier is faster than Chaplin.
I don't mind Astbury. Would prefer to keep him, but if he is a piece in the jigsaw of a trade that will benefit our club, then so be it. also, if it's best for him that moves on and gets games at another club, I wouldn't begrudge him that. he seems like a ripping fella with the few interactions I've had with him.

Jansen, Bell, Astbury and Seedsman
Then Schache, Hipwood and Keays.

Brisbane showing us how it's done.

If Brisbane picked up a pebble it'd be an improvement to their list! Geez they're so far behind the pack almost any move they make would be seen as a move forward.

Personally I'd like to keep Astbury as depth/insurance but at what price?
My main concern with Dave is his history with injuries. Will he be ready to go when/if a KPD goes down? The positive is Dave's age and his potential upside - providing he stays on the park.

LOL The only club Brisbane can show how it's done atm is Carlton, and that won't be for much longer with Bolton and SOS at the helm.
