They've put him in all sorts of positions. He's even played back in ressies games.
The problem is that he's better off as a goal-kicking ruckman, because every time he's put in as a 'full-time forward' role he gets completely blanketed by speedier defenders. It's the same reason you would never have Big Boy McEvoy as a full-time forward and more-so as an extra man in the forward line.
He has played forward and to be honest I agree with him, hopefully he gets an opportunity to prove it this year

Ben, just think we need Gazza in the midfield where he travels all over the ground, including getting into defence, not only weaving his magic but being the general as play happens.Say, Just for another 2 seasons, by then he may have lost a little in pace and his body will take longer to heal week by week, then we move him into the forward line for the last 2 or so seasons before he retires. Just my opinion mate.

I think that Ablett's position next year will heavily depend on his shoulder recovery.
Agree, but knowing Ablett, he will recover and be as strong as ever.
