Macrae has had a lot of it but ehhhh I'm not sure about how good he has actually been.
But that’s what he does and that’s what his strengths are. We shouldn’t be asking him to do things that he isn’t capable of or exposes his weaknesses.

The job of the coach is to maximise the players strengths. Bevo seems to like doing the opposite.

So no Scott, McNeil and Busslinger, despite not being listed on the injury list? Why is this club never transparent
At least one will be at Ballarat, the overlapping game times suck.

Dunno what’s up with Buss though, trained this week so could potentially just be illness or something

Scooting around, a lot of half pressure efforts, easy touches and kicking the ball backwards inside defensive 50. He's a stats man

The glaring one was the short no pressure kick to Chatfield in defensive 50 that still didn't hit the target.

Freijah a very impressive first quarter in a half back role. One turnover kicking in transition all other touches have been neat and effective. Has an athletic profile and frame to get to AFL size. Willingness to run to provide an option for the one two or to correct his positioning is on point so far.
Smith looks undersized for an AFL size ruck.
Cleary composed as usual, his all round game is solid.
Clear progression from last year for Clark. Lacks a touch of pace for his position but footy IQ is there.

Cmon, at least half of his touches would be contested and he’s been mostly pretty attacking with his disposal looking to move the ball direct and through the corridor, except for one single backwards kick inside defensive 50 which you’ve picked out

He’s a laconic looking player ffs have you actually watched any of his 200 quality games at AFL level, they’re all like this. What do you expect him to start breaking lines with blistering speed at 30yo? He’s a workhorse, and a bloody good one,

* me dead

Actually his first or second possession was him running and breaking the lines. You'd think he'd be frothing at the bit but he's just generating easy possessions inside chains and taking easy percentage options. Nothing overly impressive.

Edit: On two occasions in the first quarter, he was running free and put in a half pressure effort without body, one at ground level and the other attempting to spoil without using his hands. Not AFL standard I'd have thought.

He’s literally on pace for 56 touches but okay mate, zero effort

Keath looks pretty good, looks as fit as he has in a long time.

Hopefully okay to come in if we need another tall soon

He looks like he has trimmed down, the big problem last year is that it would take him an eternity to get back on his feet after he hit the ground in a contest.

Agree with this, noticed the same.
Bedendo largely ineffective despite a goal. Needs to get more involved in the game.
Garcia has similarities with Clay Smith. Has his shortcomings but runs in straight lines.
Lobb has been solid. Too tall and talented for this level.
On the Macrae discussion. Athletically there might be a slight decline as to be expected at his point in his career, but his game is not based on his athleticism, he is a high possession inside mid and playing as expected at this level. Racking up disposals in a classy manner.

Should be up by more.

Some garbage delivery inside 50.

Not sure if the kickers fault or lack of fwd movement? Probably the former.
