More info on Jared Polec:
For a player who gave us all such high hopes in 2014, Jared’s year was nothing short of a disaster. He began experiencing foot pain early in the season and the decision was taken to manage him through games. Unfortunately, by round five it was decided that this strategy was not going to be effective and after a hot spot was identified on the notoriously troublesome navicular bone, he was placed indefinitely on the long term injury list where he stayed for the remainder of the season. We all have high hopes for Jared but his main priority for next year will simply be to stay clear of any further complications with his foot.

On Wednesday 8th February at 7 a.m. Foxtel is showing Polec's one 2013 AFL game. R3, Gold Coast v Lions.
Review on Inside Football was "Suffered an ankle injury late in the match to top off a quiet night". All other games last year when uninjured were with the North East Australian Football League.

Is that the article that mentions he cut a whole minute off of his time trial time from the beginning of preseason?
Yeah, it's the only club-released info on him since the initial one complaining about poor fitness.

Ahh, okay. Didn't he have the flu or something like that around November as well?
Recent tonsillitis I think it was. IMO largely a face-saving mechanism. He was given a public face-slap for turning up unfit. Then to save the club as much as him from embarrassment the recent illness story was released.
Even the more recent story wasn't very +ve, it didn't compare him to any of the players in his training group, unlike Neade. It just said he improved 1 minute on a bad result.

Oh okay, perhaps it wasn't the best start for him then.
I hope he stays fit, though, if he can get through the preseason unscathed I have high hopes for him! He should be more comfortable too, being back in SA.

Hooray, some non-ambiguous praise for Polec. The latter part of Trengove still in mix for Round 1 discusses a number of our other players and in Polec's case begins with "..... Nicks also praised the training form of high profile recruit Jared Polec, saying he had taken his game to "the next level" over the summer.... "
