Increasing your lean muscle mass won't get you slower, it will get you faster...

Going on a consistent calorie surplus without matching your training to suit it (Tom Hawkins style) that will make you slower.

Black needs to put on more size full stop. Lower body to upper body

Agree. He has all the tools at the club to get lean and stronger

No excuses

I'm genuinely interested why you'd waste your time writing this.

Maybe because if he was serious about playing AFL, he would be in UTAH with the other senior players....

I think he is happy to use the excuse "Black cant get a game because North have too many talls".

When really, he cant get a game because last year he was ordinary, even at VFL level.

Yeah he's so happy not to play AFL that he went out and hired his own PT during the off season when everyone else was resting and off on holidays.

Those outside of the first to fourth year players were a SELECT group that the club sent over. If you're using that as the evidence of your poorly structured argument you really have nothing to go on.

Alarm bells are quite evident when your an AFL athlete that needs a personal trainer :/

Like what the hell have you been doing during the off season and why would hire a personal trainer when you have the staff and equipment to use at the club?

Scott Pendlebury uses a personal trainer.

The assumptions in this thread since Black`s agent came out & requested a trade are simply ridiculous.

Because it's a designated off season for the training and conditioning staff as well? It would also be beneficial to have a different opinion on the best ways for him to get fit or to improve in a certain area. It doesn't indicate alarm bells at all.

Was really excited well before his 'breakout' season, showed plenty and so agile.......and been very disappointing since.

His final round game was terrible, looked lazy and scared.

I'm glad he has hired a personal trainer. That's a start and a really good indication.

He needs to get his career back on track asap, or he will be (an expensive Urqhuart-like part of) history.

By the time 2016 trade period rolls around we will want to keep him.

Perhaps. Steve Waugh had an aha moment and put away a couple of flashy shots after 5 years and then averaged 85 for the next several years.

Black's PT and the new cap rules might give him an extra meter or two and make all the difference. 2 years ago he looked like he was going to be Gunston.

Most players don't have a personal trainer.

It's mainly because AFL players are professional athletes all year round.....including the off-season.

The club gives each player a program to stick by before they have their break so that they are in good shape before pre-season training starts.

Bigfooty logic
"Aaron needs to want to be there and try. Needs to get in the gym and work on his size"
Hires a PT during the off-season and starts his preseason early - "Even I could do that, PT's don't make you a better AFL player"

Pull your head in BF, this is nothing but positive signs from Aaron.
