LOL at bolded. Ok, if you want to play like that - the current G20 Summit proves Abbott's stance is incorrect.

TONY Abbott has foiled Barack Obama’s attempt to hijack the G20 with climate change, refusing to put a cent into the US President’s push for a $10 billion global green climate fund.

And as chair of the G20, he succeeded in ensuring global economic growth and job creation was at the top of the final declaration yesterday, delivering a blow to Mr Obama’s attempts to elevate climate change to a first order issue of the world leader’s meeting.

In one of the rare instances of an Australian leader standing up to a US President on a major policy issue, Mr Abbott refused to allow the final communiqué to include a binding requirement that all G20 nations commit to the Green Climate Fund announced by Mr Obama on Saturday at University of Queensland.

Several Australian officials, however, said privately that it had been “discourteous” of the US President to grandstand on the issue as a guest in Australia — this year’s host of the G20.

Chinese will reduce emissions well before 2030. Anyone been to China in the last few years?
If they don't they will have major health problems.

China's one child policy is expected to cause a population collapse starting around 2030. Not enough females of child bearing age willing to more than one child.

How does this relate to pollution/air quality created by industry?

Of course not.
Well why post articles that confirm that Abbott is not up to it? Even his mate from Canadia is dropping off by deciding to contribute to Climate Change fund.
Abbott is so out of step with world and domestic politics it is no longer funny.

On Sunday Harper said Canada was preparing to make a contribution to the UN fund, the Globe and Mail and other Canadian media outlets reported. He did not nominate an amount.

Thanks for that, but what I am saying that Abbott has refused.
It seems such a shame that we were once world leaders in many areas, we are now being left behind.
Although small fish in a big pond, others still knew we were there.

No point being world leaders when you're heading the wrong way. Don't forget Australia is still spending $12.5 Billion on carbon reduction. We don't need to throw money into a scheme that we have no control of where its being spent.

I love that:rolleyes:.

The bulk of the world leaders are moving to try to ease the pollution & environmental damage caused by greenhouse gas emissions. But Coal is good for humanity, obviously Abbott knows best:p

The economic outcomes from the G20 are positive. How to achieve them is always the problem. But to just continually refuse to link climate change to economic outcomes is, like so much about Abbott as a person, pig headed.

If Australian officials are pissed at Obama for grandstanding, then they really are so far out of their depth they should probably be sacked today.

The G20 is precisely the forum in which countries should be stating their own policy intentions. It wasn't like world leaders were rocking up because we invited them here to blow wind up our arse.

That's the biggest problem with the current government - they view the entire world through the prism of short-term, self-serving political interest.

My god man, you're quoting from the Daily Telegraph. It's little more than a mouth piece for the LNP. They would find a way of spinning Abbott literally shitting his pants in front the entire summit as an act of great statesmanship. No one but those at the Daily Tele believe Abbott has come out of this looking even half way good, or in control of the narrative. In fact, in their rare moments of self reflection, I doubt even the scribes and right wing ideologues at News Corp actually believe his performance at the G20 was anything less than a big F.

Liked!

"Abbott s**t his pants during the G20 to demonstrate the impact of manufacturing on the local environment. Obama (satan) showed nothing but rudeness, when he refused to deeply inhale, and help wipe Abbott's bottom"

Depends. Sometimes the best way to get something started is for the authorities to come down really hard on the first group, mobilising the masses.

Happened in Dublin, worked well.

Also happened in Tunisia, worked VERY well.

Generally the meathead brownshirts do this of their own accord with the help of the media, the key is to make it gruesome and have some actual deaths so you can create some martyrs for the masses. Big funerals help too. Especially if the cops try and break up the funeral.
If you want to stage a revolution, you need a better reason than not liking the political system. Most revolutions fail, and those that happen to succeed often make things worse. You don't need to look too hard for examples. It all sounds very romantic, but most revolutions are ugly, bloody and ultimately futile(particularly in the short term).
If there are legitimate grounds, non-violence is the only viable option. That's very hard to pull off.

You also need the right conditions for such a thing to happen. Those conditions do not exist in Australia and are unlikely to develop anytime soon.
