I have no idea how this stacks up with other years, but I am suprised that only about 13% of Australians tuned in to watch it.

I'm surprised that many people watch the funniest home video show.

What a load of tat that is!

They are crap figures. Look at the size of Sydney. 4 times bigger than Brisbane but only had 100k more viewers

actually the Sydney potential TV audience in Sydney is 4.357M compared to 2.736M in Brisbane.

actually the percentages look like this

8.7% 30.9% 9.4% 25.1% 19.8% 18.1% and as has been mentioned does not include pubs or large screens or even those at the game

I wouldn't worry about that. The TV ratings can only be accurate when compared on a very specific basis to other TV ratings, not really as a figure for how many actually watched the game.

Last year:

AFL GRAND FINAL GEELONG V PORT ADELAIDE Ten 2,572,000 321,000 1,214,000 272,000 378,000 386,000

I don't understand how the game can be down in Brisbane and Perth (Adelaide I understand) and only up ~5% in Melbourne compared to last year, when you compare the games.

General interest in the finals series is down everywhere but Melbourne this year. The ratings for other games reflect that trend as well.

The Oztam catchment for Sydney is 4,357,000

For Bribsane, it is 2,736,000

Sydney reached 8.8%, Brisbane reached 9.4%, Melbourne 30.1%, Adelaide 25.1% and Perth 19.8%

Adelaide's Oztam catchment is 1,336,000, Perth is 1,654,000 and Melbourne 4,149,000
