Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil

Got a hold of a copy the other day and was quite impressed. Not as much screaming as the previous two albums...but the music has grown a lot tighter. Standout tracks for me are The Beast and the Harlot, Burn It Down, Seize The Day, and Betrayed...which is a tribute to the late Dimebag Darryl, guitarist for Pantera and Damageplan.

Those who are fans of their early work may not like this album as much...with less in your face tracks (Unholy Confessions, Chapter Four) and more melodics and harmonies (Warmness on the Soul, I Won't See You Tonight part 1)...although they still maintain the A7X sound we know.

Anyone else heard this album and what are your thoughts?

Havnt managed to get myself a copy yet but soon will! I am a fan of their early stuff, Chapter Four probably being my fav song of theirs.

Woulndt mind getting a copy of this cd. Still utterly obsessed with the song , "unholy confessions". Great band.

Heard a little bit of it today, had not heard them before. Apparently the dude had screwed his voice and couldn't scream anymore, which would explain the less screaming than other albums.

Anyway, quite good!

I love this album, i like more songs from City of Evil than their newest album. Favourite songs would have to be Betrayed, Seize the Day, Beast and the Harlot and Blinded in Chains.

Like a lot of good bands, they have turned fairly emo like.

First couple of albums are worth checking out though for somegood heavy stuff.

Well, i like the song Steets on their first album, but thats where it ends, its a one off song however, nothing else sounds remotely like it
