Ballarat Dragons coach fightingfury_88 has called for calm after his side slumped to their sixth straight defeat this season. The Dragons could only muster a lowly score of 891 against Melbourne to leave the club sitting second bottom, but fightingfury_88 believes fans need to look past the 0-6 record to see the real story.

"We're struggling a bit for numbers at the moment. Several of our leaders such as Davis, Van Berlo, Cornes and Trengove have been struck down with injury and the younger players are just trying to find their feet at the moment. With a little more experience under their belts they should be able to post more consistent scores."

It's not all doom and gloom for the Dragons however with the youngest list in the competition beginning to unearth some a high quality young players in Chad Wingard, Jed Anderson, Jackson Macrae, Sam Day and Rohan Bewick. Chad Wingard has been particularly impressive with the second year player and first round draft pick showing some of his potential by posting an average score of just under 90 over the first six games.

In just his first year Jackson Macrae, has also been impressive with the youngster showing class and poise beyond his years. Another first round draft pick, Macrae has already proven he has the talent to be a top player in the league. Big man Sam Day has also shown positive signs in his first season at Ballarat, with the athletic tall looking more comfortable on the ground with each game that passes.

It is the players the likes of these that have those close to the club confident that club is on the right track, particularly with their drafting. With a little patience, fans of the Dragons could see a champion team develop in front of their eyes, perhaps quicker than many may think.
