Outstanding effort from Gov to finish 4th in our count despite only playing 10 games (including being subbed out in two of them). His early season form was back to his best and would probably have been on track to win had he not got injured as he was still leading it until after Round 16. His two BOG games came in Round 3 v Fremantle (21 disposals and 11 marks) and Round 4 v Collingwood (22 disposals and 8 marks). Another noteworthy game was Round 9 v Melbourne where he recorded 23 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles and a goal.

A bronze medal for the old timer who gets 3rd place at the ripe old age of 35. Hurn was a rock in a year that we needed him and showed that he does indeed have the ability to play on in 2023. BOG in Round 8 v Brisbane with 27 disposals, 8 marks and 4 tackles as well as Round 17 v Carlton with 28 disposals and 10 marks. Hurn only recorded less than 20 disposals on 5 occasions in 2022 and never less than 15 and only didn't poll once in the second half of the year.

Congratulations on your bronze medal, Shannon.

Congrats to Shannon Hurn.
A true professional and certainly earned a 2023 gig if he wants it.

I'm picking the winner will be...
someone who's name begins with T. (Actually hoping for TB, would be well deserved)

3rd year in a row that Kelly finishes top 3 in 3 seasons on the list. Kelly has back2back silver medals and seems to consistently poll well on a board where he cops a large amount of flack for supposedly being a failed trade despite being probably our second best player since he has come to the club. Kelly was named BOG on two occasions in season 2022 in Round 11 v the Bulldogs where he recorded 38 disposals, 6 marks, 5 tackles and a goal and in Round 16 v Richmond where he recorded 40 disposals, 4 marks and 2 goals. He recorded less than 20 disposals on only 4 occasions.

Congratulations on your silver medal, Tim.

Wow what a season from the big man. Barrass stamped himself as one of the premier key backmen in the AFL in season 2022 and stormed home to claim his first win in our award. Started the season well and picked up two BOG performances in Round 5 v Sydney (16 disposals and 6 marks) and Round 6 v Port Adelaide (17 disposals and 6 marks) but it was the second half of the year where he really turned it on. Three BOG performances all in the form of unanimous voting in Round 18 v Hawthorn (30 disposals and 18 marks which is just stunning for a key back) before backing it up the following week in Round 19 v St Kilda with 26 disposals and 8 marks. His fifth and final BOG for the year came in Round 22 v Fremantle where he recorded 20 disposals and 12 marks). A special mention to Round 1 where he kicked his first career goal in his 100th game.

Congratulations on your gold medal, Tom.

Wow. Naish was 4th as late as rd 12.

He seemed like a breath of fresh air for the first few rounds. I still remember his brilliant game against the pies, was hitting tricky targets in the corridor all game.

Had a couple of bad games, then Hough took his spot. Goes to show how highly Hough is rated internally.
