A really good year for Duggo who by all reports wouldn't have been playing early in any other season due to injury but due to player availability he needed to be out there. Played almost every game and recorded 20 disposals or more in more than half of them. Season highlights included 30 disposals, 10 marks and 5 tackles in Round 22 v Fremantle and 28 disposals with 9 marks in Round 7 v Richmond where he was also picked as our Best on Ground.

A consistent season for the skipper who polled in 14 of his 17 games. Had a few injury problems early in the year but seemed to get over them to play every game from Round 10. Noticeably has slowed down but was still capable of some strong performances which is highlighted by his clearance ability (ranked 16th in the AFL for Clearances per game). Highlights included 28 disposals, 4 marks, 6 tackles and 6 clearances vs Richmond in Round 7, 27 disposals, 5 marks, 6 tackles and 10 clearances vs Adelaide in Round 12, and 26 disposals with 11 clearances vs Richmond in Round 16.

Redden was probably our most consistent mid in 2022 as well as our most durable - only missing 1 game for the year when everyone else crumbled. Regularly set the standard in the midfield and recorded some strong performances such as 29 disposals, 6 marks and 6 tackles in Round 8 v Brisbane and 28 disposals with 7 marks in Round 1 v Gold Coast. A premiership veteran and well respected player, Redden unexpectedly announced his retirement following the end of the season and his consistency and reliability will be missed as we continue through our rebuild.

Just love the way Reddo went about it. Always puts in 100% effort and does the team thing every time. Was always prepared to jump in to stick up for his mates when needed too.

We're going to miss him.

2022 was the great man's final season and didn't he go out with a bang? 8 goals in his final game of his career to put an exclamation mark on an outstanding career. BOG in that game v Adelaide in Round 21 where he recorded 15 disposals and 8 marks to go with his 8 majors. JK also received BOG honours in Round 15 v Essendon where he kicked a bag of 5. Only went goalless once in his final season in the AFL.

Thrilled to have given this legend the most votes.

Legitimately love this man.

I wish I found another 3 votes to give him. Our lives are now poorer without him playing. Sad

A tale of two seasons for Darling in 2022. Famously missed most of the preseason due to his vaccination stance and clearly felt the impacts of it during the first part of the year. However, he was probably one of our best players for the majority of the season. Didn't miss a game after Round 1 which was huge for us given player availability and was regarded as out BOG on two occasions: Round 12 v Adelaide (15 disposals and 2 goals) and Round 20 v Gold Coast (14 disposals and 6 goals). Only went goalless twice throughout the season.

Top 5 begins tomorrow.

Top 5 West Coast Eagles for 2022 as decided by you to come from:

Tim Kelly
Jeremy McGovern
Shannon Hurn
Jamaine Jones
Tom Barrass

So the top 5 consists of...

Our best mid (he's the only one in our top 5).
A guy who missed most of the year after breaking his ribs.
A guy who is 103 and many say should be retired.
A guy who started the year in the WAFL.
A guy who started the year as our 2nd or 3rd tall defender.

1 mid and 4 backs. Could have something to do with the fact that the ball was rarely forward of centre for us.
Anyone who says they predicted this top 5, I call Shenanigans.

Jones was one of the few players actually doing something.
He copped a lot on this board throughout the year. Was on the verge of losing a contract extension too (I think? His drink driving episode..?)
This whole list defines our year. What a shitshow.

Big year for Jones who found himself firmly in the best 22 by the end of the season. Begun the year in his usual forward/mid role and played his game of the season in Round 1 v Gold Coast where he was awarded BOG and had 21 disposals, 6 marks and 2 goals. Was required to play down back due to availability and didn't disgrace himself at all. Providing some much needed pace off half back and polling votes in all but 2 games in the second half of the season.

I really liked Jones' year and definitely don't agree with the criticism. Provided something the team was lacking and never went into his shell.

His disposal/turnovers came into question but I actually think his kicking itself (action wise) is pretty good - when you play an entirely unfamiliar position, are tasked with providing most of a team's run and the movement upfield is completely stagnant it'd be wild if you didn't turn it over a lot.

Give him a preseason training in the backline and the team some time to adjust a the quicker style of ball movement/lead accordingly and I reckon he'll be great.
