BigFooty's Top 50 Book List

Maybe i am being pedantic, but should MAgician have just been placed in with the Riftwar Saga and all of those counted as one Magician/Riftwar getting a total of 96 Votes. I always figured that authors like Hemingway and pratchett and Orwell would split their vote, but to actually lose votes to the series that the book is in seems... tricky.

It is tricky and while I didn't vote for Magician I have read it and quite enjoyed it, but didn't like the 2nd or 3rd book, thought they were quite average. Haven't read beyond that. So from my perspective I wouldn't want Magician lumped in with the others.

It seemed silly to make people vote for a whole series when they may have only really liked one book in the series, so the option was there for people to vote for either the whole series or just a single book in the series.

It is unfortunate but Feist should have just written a better book 2 and 3 to the trilogy :p

Also, he wasn't the only author to "lose" votes in this way. On the plus side it might mean he has more entries in the top 50 :)

thanks for doing this fpcookie particularly like the stats and miscellany at the end.

A few surprises, actually surprised Brave New World, is top ten (even though it was on my list). Gobsmacked that the Belgariad was top 20 (It is a series I have never really rated)

Given that vote splitting, is a particualr interest of mine, i'd be interested if you could tell us who the top 5 authors (I know this is books not authors) were by total votes across all their books. Obviously Orwell and Hemmingway would likely be in there and likely Steinbeck, but I'd be interested to know how authors like Umberto Eco or Terry Pratchett, might have fared overall.

Edit- OK beat me to it :)
