Callum Sinclair

Player Profile

Callum Sinclair was traded from the West Coast Eagles to the Sydney Swans ahead of season 2016 and has since played vital roles as a key forward and ruckman. Over his first two seasons at the Swans he played primarily as a forward as Kurt Tippett and Sam Naismith carried the ruck load, but the retirement of Tippett and Naismith’s ACL rupture left him with the chief ruck duties in 2018 and 2019. That was until he dislocated his right shoulder twice in Round 15, an injury that ended his season. Sinclair banked a stellar 2020 pre-season campaign and has a burning desire to play every game at the top level this year. Draft history: 2013 Rookie Draft selection (West Coast) No. 12; 2014 AFL Draft rookie elevation (West Coast); 2015 AFL Draft traded by West Coast for Lewis Jetta.

Any idea what percentage of the game he will be a first ruck for us? The more the better I think as Tippett needs to be in the goal square. That said, Sinclair can do that as well can't he?

Given Jetta was leaving we were always going to get undervalue trade wise and contract wise (if the 400k is accurate) we've definitely over-paid...but that doesn't mean he's a bad player, he'll give a good solid contest in the ruck (and potentially become more than just that).
I hope though, we don't go the 50/50 split in the ruck between him and Tippett that some are suggesting. Tippett is significantly more dangerous up forward than Sinclair, so it's beneficial for us as a team that Tippett spends significantly more time at FF than Sinclair...hopefully Sinclair can become a genuine no 1 ruck and the split will be more like 70/30.

He had great year but a very, very poor finals series.
And so, much as I loved him, if he wouldn't turn up for finals, i.e. when it really matters, I say good riddance, he's now Lewis Cheddar as far as I'm concerned, and if this Sinclair chap is at least halfway decent, a straight swap is therefore a win for us.

Further building on my very witty fromage-themed pun in a previous post, I realise we have merely swapped a Lewis Cheddar for a St Claire, but that is the limit of my cheese-based pun offerings on this topic.

Very witty. You really hit a blue vein of form there.

I think you curd come up with some more. Perhaps tread Caerphilly though. Wouldn't want to send the board Emmental, or leave us blue. Stiltons of puns available though. Perhaps it's a bit out of control and should be Feta'd. Hmmm, running out of ideas, think I might need some Morbier. My friends Camembert are coming over soon, which is a shame as I'm feeling a little queso. Bert has a hot sister though, Manchegos alright.

Well we missed out on the Limburger this year. But some found that option too smelly anyway.

Have 2 say I like our ruck stocks and the no subs rule. Both Sinclair and Tippet are very mobile ruckman that can kick goals.

Neither great tap ruckman, so I think in the centre we will loose the tap outs to the top ruckman, but great for open play. With no sub, perfect for a 2 ruckman system.

I hope Sinclair continues his trajectory. Welcome mate.

You have always been fair traders in my eyes. Not just with us but in general. A lot like us to be honest.

Well except for the drugs.

I think this is as goudas it gets ;)

You haven't got yourselves a pure ruck like for example Leuenberger but you've got someone who will compete well and is a presence when floating forward.

Well done to your club for getting your half of the deal done and abiding by Lewis's wishes to return home as well. Looking forward to seeing what he can bring to us whether it's off a wing or HF. Really hoping that he is ready to knuckle down and have a strong pre season because we shouldn't be picking him on name alone come Round 1.

Sinclair is like a mirror image of pyke in 2012
