I'm looking forward to Aussies smashing it in World Cup Final, Essendon players being found not guilty (which is what insufficient evidence means) and then Essendon anouncing themselves as a premeirship threat by smashing Sydney by over 10 goals.

It's going to be a great week.

I've heard from a reliable source who I trust that players will be found not guilty due to insufficient evidence.

I've heard from another reliable source who I trust that players will be found guilty, receive a 6 month backdated ban and miss 2 matches.

I've heard from another reliable source that I trust that players will be found guilty and receive a year ban.

OK that should just about cover all rumours till 2pm Tuesday.

That's gonna send B4L!! on an emotional roller coaster.

Do we all get debriefed and offered counselling when all this is over?
I came on to hear news, but there hasn't been any on this thread for eons.
Which is more likely;
1. A team of investigators have been so professionally compromised that they are prosecuting a flimsy case?
2. Dank was either criminally incompetent or went rogue?
I don't like my answer to that question :(
Throw me a life line here people.... I find the silence deafening. Is there an obvious fault in this rationale?

Im going to write off the first 2 weeks maybe even more even if we are found not guilty. Just dont think a brand new 18 players can rock up for round 1 without any real true match play and be able to be grand finalist straight up and it sucks because its the best time to play those teams.

Im still not happy about the continuous off site injections done by Dank and how that was all setup, doesnt set a very nice picture for anyone. However i think Hirdy and the club have copped that punishment on the chin.

Option 1 - A whole lot of political interference, back room discussion, wheeling, dealing and agenda driving has contributed to bring this case to where it is today. The motivations for forging ahead with a circumstantial case are numerous.

Option 2 - Dank didn't go rogue and he knew what he was doing/administering. If it was banned he was in cahoots with some other EFC people.

Option 3 - We sought to circumvent the doping code as a club and have been caught red handed.

I've been of the opinion that no player will miss a game through suspension since day 1, I'm pretty comfortable that's the result we'll get.

The gloating/celebration thread will be my happy place come Tuesday. I'll be extending personal invitations to all manner of HTB campaigners to familiarise themselves with my foreskin.

if we get found not guilty, I'll be going all in on the BOMBERS with what ever is in my betting account. I just don't see how we lose that match with the weight off our sholders.

You dont see how we lose to previous year grandfinalist at their home who usually smash us every time they play us no matter what ground.

For me it's not to much the off site that is the concern. It's that there were places the club used where there was a lack of control. Club lacked checks and balances.

Off site would mean lack of control wouldnt it?

we dont know what checks and 'balances' whatever that means in this context were or wernt used.

I can see how we lose, odds and logical thinking will tell u that we will lose.. but this is football, where team work and a common goal means more than skill does. if you want it more, you can easily beat the odds, and mark my words, we will want the s**t out of it.

I think we will be good with our intensity and physicality towards the ball and it will be alright for a half but after that i think they would run over us with match fitness and skills being primed through 3 games that we havnt been involved in.

You played football before. Match fitness is something of great importance.

Kinda, I guess.

IF you used say the Epworth hospital for all injections for what ever reason, I guess you'd still lack control but have a solid reputation and someone who is subject to some pretty strict rules through govenment agencies etc, they do they wrong thing or don't follow rules...

They'd also have pretty strict rules in knowing what they gave patients. Knowing what medicatioin was on hand, what was used etc. Where we have Alavi saying he at least claims he doesn't know what he made up.

And that he was being sent raw products from companies he did really know about. Somewhere like the Epworth would more likely have strict rules on that kind of thing.

To put a positive spin on it. If I told you 5 years ago that if a club was subjected to a two year campaign of non stop media harassment whilst being investigated for possible drug use would you have thought that team would not only overcome some of its own history by winning on the road better then it had in a decade but also qualify for finals for the two years they were being investigated?

We have a special group, they could surprise us. We get cleared we could be in for one hell of a year with the shackles off

I'm not sure what you find promising in that - it's Gill explaining that even if players didn't know they were being injected with something dodgy, they can still be found guilty.

Think Gill is implying that its wrong if players are suspended under this scenario.

Maybe this will change your mind

Essendon players impress in training despite lack of match practice in NAB Challenge

A GUILTY verdict from the AFL’s anti-doping tribunal is all that stands in the way of James Hird returning to the coach’s box with a near full-strength Essendon line-up.

Tagger Heath Hocking (knee) is the only first-choice player set to be unavailable for next week’s trip to face Sydney with star midfielder Dyson Heppell impressing on the track.

Nick Kommer, Kurt Aylett and Tayte Pears are also injured but would have been unlikely to feature in Hird’s comeback game.

Heppell warmed up with the forwards under the watch of specialist coach Matthew Lloyd at Tullamarine and took part in the start of an intense match-simulation session.

The blond jet, returning from minor knee surgery, linked up on the wing as the Bombers honed their ball movement from half-back.

He appears on track for Round 1.

Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney was a rare senior player absent from the session, instead running laps as he manages his knee problems.

But Bombers insiders remain thrilled with Cooney’s maiden summer at the club, while booming left-footer David Myers and running defender Courtenay Dempsey also played after minor hiccups.

Hird looks likely to persist with 2014 coach Mark Thompson’s experiment of playing Michael Hurley in defence and Jake Carlisle at full-forward, alongside Joe Daniher.

A few top-up players joined in and after Heppell exited the MCG-sized oval Hird raised the intensity to almost mimic a full-blown intra-club match.

One side, wearing Essendon’s home strip, was filled with guns including captain Jobe Watson, a vocal Brendon Goddard, David Zaharakis, Dustin Fletcher, Brent Stanton and Tom Bellchambers.

Ariel Steinberg manned Daniher, who impressed with three big grabs near goal, while James Gwilt, Mark Baguley and Jason Ashby sparked Essendon’s dash from half-back.

Midfielder Jake Melksham provided some highlights with his crafty footwork and skills while Zach Merrett played further up the ground, with Hird seeming to like the young gun delivering the ball inside 50.

After about 70 minutes the Bombers’ A-graders completed a separate ball movement session on the Etihad Stadium-sized secondary oval.

The Bombers serving provisional doping bans will learn their fate at 2pm on Tuesday.

mate the emotion of the players could be off the ******* charts if they are found not guilty.

I would think if they are found not guilty they will utterly slaughter sydney.

If ASADA or Essendon are inevitably going to appeal an unsatisfactory verdict (according to Ings) then I don't understand the hype over this decision. Sure things will change short term for the better and the boys can get on the park but this may well be the start not the end. It might hang over the players' heads a second time.

We don't know what evidence ASADA will gather in the future, what they were allowed to present this time compared to next, or whether Alavi's and Chartres absence blew a major hole in their case. I'm already waiting for the second round and if ASADA drop their weapons then its party time. But not until then.

I think you will be surprised how much not playing 3 games against opposition has an impact. For those who dont, have you played much footy at a decent level? Even the very best are fumbly in there first game back from no games.

How much can you impress in training? and compare that to real games.

I have no doubt if found not guilty we would have a pretty solid year just think we might take some time to warm up.

Maybe im wrong time will tell and hopefully we are cleared.
