What is it with all the references to soccer? Honestly, try defining yourselves without the aid of mother Pomgolia. I am baffled that anyone would think that reference to some Pomgolian soccer team is going to clear things up for me. I could care less but it would be hard. Soccer schmoccer.

"It's like the Footly-Tootlers, if you love them, you love them forever. You're always Footly-Tootling if you're a Footly-Tootler."

"WCE are rapidly becoming the Slovaki Frenulums of the AFL..."

"I have followed the Michigan Pie-Eaters ever since the Australian wunderkiddy, Emma Chissett, went over there to eat as a pro. When she left for the Idaho Snackgobblers, I stuck true to the Pie-Eaters because I am a flaming idiot only a mother could love."

Spot on Mish. I dont have a clue with all this soccer prattle. Leave it to the Poms

All this nonsense... is it really worth it?
Besides Eagles supporters, it could be worse......

...she might decide to come back.

p.s.... dont think he got it moo. It seems you are not the only one with a couple of loose nuts.

pps.. can't say i'm not a die hard supporter...my England football club (thats "soccer" to dockertor and MM) is Watford.

Changing tack slightly, I was just wondering what the Dockers' fans views were of those fans that gave them away in the dim dark Drum years. And how many of them came back under Connolly.

Every team has their fair weather supporters, the Eagles no less than anyone else.

Bandwagonning is distasteful, but lack of ticker when it gets tough is a hangable offence in my book.

Another esteemed Freo poster round these parts (DJ^BJ - forgive me if I got it wrong) has the figures on those years. Our loss of signed-up members through the years 2000-2002 was infinitesimal compared to yours. Infinitesimal. We're rusted the **** on, brother. They hung tight and now they will be rewarded.

You come and go, like ladies talking about Michelangelo...

Bandwagoners + membership = $$$$$$
much easier to get to the bar in 2001

I thought 2001 was the Dockers most successful year............. the year we got rid of that weagle in disguise..... David Hatt

Yep you got a good core of supporters.

The test comes when the success stops after actually occuring. Then you'll see how many of the supporters that signed up when things were looking rosey are in for the long haul.

The Eagles had been successful and loss supporters because the success dropped. The Dockers were able to keep a larger amount of members because, quite simply they are your loyal bunch that are in for the long haul - I don't doubt we've got a similar group at the Eagles (I know I'm one) but of course there's a few that are there for the good times.
The Dockers bandwagon has only just rolled into town, the test is if and when the success drops, how many stay loyal. Much like the Eagles experienced in 2000-01.

Bandwagoners are part of footy, thats why club get more money when they are successful. The Dockers aren't above it and when the time comes to test their larger group of supporters (with bandwagoners) the drop will probably be very similar to the Eagles when they went through it.

But I guess we'll just have to wait and see won't we ?

Sometimes I read things on bigfooty that make me laugh, sometimes cringe, sometimes I just shake my head in wonder at someones utter stupidity, and sometimes I get mad, sad or just plain disappointed.

This is not one of those times.

Now, stop making sense ferchrissakes.

I've used 97/98 as the starting point as, judging by the jump in Wiggle figures, I think that was when the reno was completed at Subi. We did drop a bit in 2001, but show me a team with a 17 game losing streak that doesn't. I think the jump this year will be icing on the cake for Freo... last year only got a few more back than what was lost in 01/02.
But like others have said, how many of the 1500 that joined last year and the 5k? that will join this year, will hang around during the next drop in performance? The base 20k probably will... the next 10-15k are probably not that hard core, as the Eagles found out in 01/02.

Well to all the eagle supporters out that I can promise you there isnt a hope in hell I would ever support a club of such low moral fiber and with such arogant supporters as the eagles.

I would prefer to chop off my manhood and fry it up for breakfast.

/end troll (Thats what this thread is about isnt it? I mean taking a swip at the other mob/person?)

Surely you are joking.... take a look at the crowds the Dockers used to get in their lean years... where were all the bandwagon purple army then? Compare the crowds Freo got last year to what they have had in theri first 8 years and tell me they aren't the biggest bunch of bandwagoners in the AFL.

Even when the Eagles had those lean years in 2000/2001 the crowd numbers did not drop off that dramatically... certainly nowhere near compared to what Freo was getting.l Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

How would you know a thing about the crowds from your tv only perspective.

Ahhhh what little you know.... another irony that you were probablyy one of those little kids in the stand cheering me on when I was out there playing... yet here you are having a go at me for not spending my life in the crowd listening to morons screaming abuse at players and umpires...... the fact is I can walk into any game for Free btu I choose not to. I prefer to attend training and go down to the scratch matches where I don't have idiots like yourself acting like monkeys around me. I prefer to watch on TV where I can concentrate on the game... without blinking to check my watch and having to ask the person next to me what happened. Just because I am not 200 metres away squinting from the stands doesn't mean I don't have an understanding of the game.

Its kind of sad that certain people on here have to use the fact I no longer attend matches as some sort of insult. If every football follower went to the games we would have 400,000 people at an Eagles game every week.

I'm talking about members, you dullard. Paid-up members.

For a bloke who sits at home fiddling with your remote control when the footy's on, you have some cheek seeking to make mileage out of matchday attendance. But of course, that's probably a case of the kettle calling the pot a less-complicated kettle - ie, a bit too tricky for you. Scumbag. Maggot. Want to get chucked around a bit more?

Are you trying to suggest you played for either the dockers or the eagles?
And no i wasnt those little kids cheering on REAL eagle players as A. I couldnt care less about football when the eagles were in their prime and B. techincally I was a teenager when the dockers first took the park.

You are why eagle supporters are so despised, this I am better than you mentality and the nerve to consider yourself above "the crowd" is classic.

Ok.. Michelan Man. Let me give you a pleasure many on this forum have wanted but not been able to obtain. You come to the Eagles scratch match tonight. Meet me outside Gate 8 at 5.00pm. I will be wearing a red shirt. Then you can have the pleasure of calling me a scumbag and a maggot to my face. Of course all of bigfooty is invited so they can come back and tell everyone how you shat your pants when you saw me and ran off back home. I no longer care if anyone finds out who I really am... because it will be worth it to see the look on your face you sad excuse for a human.

Woah big man here...WATCH YOURSELF EVERYONE.
Danny_Green for the sake of the eagles god I hope your not a player or ex official because they way your handling yourself is disgraceful.
And Danny_Green I would love to meet you, naturally I wont be calling you scumbag as frankly it takes allot for me to hate/dislike someone, but I am always up for meeting a fellow bigfooty supporter, as anoying as they are :).
But I think a game would be better as frankly I dont give a rats ass about an eagles scratch match, just the same as my fellow supporters.

So let me understand this correctly.

Not only are you an ex AFL player, racist, expert on all things crown related, the game itself, et al - you want to pick a fight based on a messagebnoard posting ... if thats what your life has progressed too (under the given that the psychotic ramblings have a vague base in reality whatsoever, in itself a big jump, I admit) then there is only one possible solution.

You're Barra.

This is great news. Not only do I get to watch a game of footy tonight, but now there's going to be an old fashioned brawl in the car park beforehand.

Don't let me down, Mish.

Well lets be honest, at a West Coast Scratchie, if you indeed did go up to the punters in red shirts and call them scum, you'd probably be right on the money anyway, so might not be a bad ploy.

That said, The guy in the red shirt that looks like Barra is probably the scumbag you wish to say it to - once again, if said in error aprapo this post, you'd still be right, and no harm done.

We all win.
