Carlton youngster Clem Smith has been heavily reprimanded and forced to apologise to the entire playing group after a drunken altercation in which he was struck.

New Carlton coach Brendon Bolton has already read the proverbial riot act to Smith, who was involved in a drunken fight last weekend in the Chapel Street precinct.

He is facing disciplinary action by the club. Police attended the incident, but the club indicated no charges had yet been laid against any party.

Sad to see really. If you read Quayle's book he has had a really rough upbringing and because of that struggled to develop the professional attitude that the AFL requires. You'd hope this becomes a turning point for him, but that kind of cycle is really hard to break out of.
