Crown Melbourne Part 4

Played this hand the other day 2/4 which i thought was relatively interesting.

Villain is a reg afaik.

I have been raising a lot from LP, as we have loose passive fit or fold fish to my right. Villain has tried to squeeze my LP opens a few times in the last few orbits and i have auto-4bet him. He has folded once, and the other time called and then folded to a 1/2 pot cbet, to which i showed some crap like K3.

Effective stacks b/w me and villain in this hand are ~1k. Villain is in MP and opens to $16. 2 other people call and i call from sb with 67hh. Flop is Q75r with one heart.

I check, villain bets $45, folds to me, I call.

Turn is an offsuit 6. I check. Villain Bets $105. I call again?

River is a 10. I check????????? Villain bets pot. I??????

Any idea of his opening range? Can you put 55, 89s or QT in his range? I'd be inclined to checkraise the turn. If his MP opens are a bit nitty, 67 is the nuts here. As played, I probably just call the river as there aren't many hands which will payoff a raise.

It mostly comes down to how much he will bet the river thinly, and most importantly b/f or b/c

I think if he is out to "get you" its just a c/c.

As an aside, out of the few people who bet/fold, and vbet light I play with in Perth, they will size there bets with weaker value hands vs the average player to induce calls based on the absolute size of the bet, rather then the betsize in relation to pot etc... as such, if this villian is similar, polarises his river range to bluffs or nut hands.

I think I c/c in game speed, he is going to play way to well vs your hand on the river.

Played some cash at Crown this morning, first time there for about 10 weeks. I so hate that place. Nothing to do with the poker room, it's the idiots that think that closing everything down and having renovation 24/7/365 is a good idea. Whatever you do, don't ever get too attached to any restaurant or food outlet because it's likely to be closed down.

All Star Sports Bar, closed. Steakout, closed. Automatic Cafe, closed. Urban Burger, closed. The Pub at Crown, closed. Kings Buffet, closed. Sante, closed. East 2 West closed. Pizza Head, closed. And today, half of the food court is closed for more renovations. Someone up there is very indecisive about what they want.

Man I miss pizza head

When I had dinner with crown management they were talking about how important updating and refreshing the place was but yeah I agree its way too much especially when the core of the place never changes

I think the two biggest losses were the two busty bitches that hung out the front of Steakout to entice people in, then waitressed later in the night. One was like DD but was a 2-bagger, other was more proportioned and hot as.

I heard from two different people over the last few days that Crown are very concerned about the profitability (or lack of) of the poker room. Poker may not be what pays the bills but it is what gives Crown a name internationally.

Anyone have any thoughts as to what the future may hold? I wouldn't be surprised if they try to introduce more stupid things like the 7-to-1 flop chase, continue to adjust buy-ins, rakes and table fees, bring back more pokies, further increase tournament fees. I don't get the impression we will see stability in the poker room, I imagine the pressure is always on for the poker room to bring in more revenue.

Yeah I can just imagine more rake increases etc

Maybe they should look at cost cutting rather than making more money

I just hope they see its an important part of the casino and more rake increases could really kill the room

After Many months not going there (mainly work) i found myself on a day off and bored, suddenly remembered "Poker @ Casino". Thought why not so I took $400 with me to kill few hours and I sat On 1-3 table early on thursday Morning among Mainly the pensioners who i presumed was pay day for them (actually more likely retired with 20 houses and $100 Million cash stashed around their house).

Anyway After 1 hour with rubbish hands and my buy in stack going from $200 to $188 (Didn't play a hand in 1 hour) Mainly to Blinds I get k10cc 6 callers after UTG raises to $18. Hungry for some action i called so did another 4 players. Flop is J64 ALL CLUBS. A shiver went through my spine upon seeing the flop but behold what happened next UTG first to act didn't cbet and checked, player two Moves all in ($250-$300)player three snap call all in as well ($1k) player 4 thinks for 10 seconds then moves all in ($350), Player 5 (Me) is like WTF... Not excited anymore as i start to think someone must have the you know what. anyway i call for the value and get my next buy in ready feeling i got trapped. Player 6 calls as well ($200) Back to the initial raiser who thinks and thinks and says "Ok I am all in as well" So I had k10cc and the flop was Jc6c4c Can you guess what the other players had?lol

Won That Pot and had 1.1k Next hand pot is raised again to $24 and looked and had 44 Flop is AK4, raiser cbet with $60 with 4 callers including me, the other 2 fold and i raised to $150 and he shoves for all in for another $270, He shows AK.... Turn is 6 River Is 5. My stack is now $1.5k

4-5 Hands later i am on the button and Big Blind raise to $18 everyone calls except UTG he folds. I have 67hh Flop is 4c8d10h Big blind Bets $80 4 calls then me so i min raise to $160 Big blind calls and UTG+1 Calls, Turn is Kh check to me Big blind has $200 left Player 2 has $250 left I shove all in both calls you wouldn't believe what they both had any guess? I win the pot My stack now is $2.2k in 1.5 Hours of playing. Racked up and went home $2k Richer. What a day :)

Good call or bad call on that shove from me on hand #3?? i totally didn't put them on those hands.

I hate the flop minraise in hand 3. You are closing the action, with odds to call. No way are they folding better hands, so why raise?

I honestly put the first player on air, maybe AK OR AQ and i was hoping if second player called (I put him on ten with a weak kicker) i will set myself for a bluff even if i missed my outs. I was wrong but luckily poker Gods gave me the Nod that hand.lol

Yes you're going to get them off their hands on the turn when they have stacks that are ~1/3 of the pot.

Play higher where people are more likely to respect your flop min raises and can make big lay downs on the turn...

i might have overheard this being talked about earlier during APPT but didn't get whole conversation (suits were talking to Jarred Graham and a couple others IIRC)

Apperently there is going to be another area set up for even bigger games was the gist that I got no other info though maybe reduced rake and freebies

Yeah sounds like a new area for high stakes games but wondering how often it'll be used

Would they run 5/10 in there or just when the bigger games get up?
