Draft whispers, rumours & scuttlebut

Yes, obviously anyone capable of forming their own opinion is an idiot. Thank you. I'm sure that if Carlton were taking Schache you'd be outraged they weren't taking Weitering, instead of just blindly assuming that whatever your club is doing is 100% correct beyond all debate because it's your club.

What an immense waste of time this has been.

FWIW I think you have a good point and you made solid, well-written argument - well done.

I am in favour of "best available", but as you say KPF >> KPD and many "guaranteed" #1s have not turned out to be the best player in their draft after all. It will be interesting to see over time how the 2 players pan out and if the gap is as big as many say.

Wietering is a lock. Why do you reckon we should pass on The best KPP in the draft with strong leadership qualities?.

Yes we need goal kickers but not at the expense of the best player in the draft. The new coach will teach the hawthorn way of kicking goals - a spread amongst many. Will look for a KP forward at 8,11 or 19..
My guess is we'll look at McKay at our second or third pick in the draft.

Weitering is a once in a generation KPD? News to me.
That's the hope.

It's interesting to see so many non-Carlton people jump on hopeful comments made by supporters of a struggling team about a 17 year old rated by the experts as something special.

None of us have crystal balls but we all have hope (particularly when our teams have been down so long). Being a Melbourne supporter I'd think you would understand.

Tend to agree, but I reckon we will take a mid at 8 and Mckay or similar at 11.
If, and it's a big if, curnow or Weideman last to 8 we will snap them up before Mckay and take the mid at 11.
Weideman will be long gone before our second pick comes along. He'll be at Essendon or Melbourne.

Heard Essendon aren't keen on Curnow at all.
Would be very happy if true

Just some things talked about on our board.

Francis and Milera dont want to leave SA - sure thats already been mentioned

Curnow unlikely to go top 10

I reckon Carlton will use pick 8 on Harry Mackay

There are always some big sliders each year. I think they could come from

Burton
Gresham
Ah Chee
Dunkley

This year

That surprises me. Thought he'd be the type they'd be all over (if true of course)

People have got carried away thinking hes 190cm odd and can run a high beep thus hes the next Bontempelli, Fyfe. I dont see him as a midfielder and hes isnt. His skills a poor in comparison he has a forward kick on him not a midfield kick. He also doesnt move anywhere near aswell as these guys.

I think he could well go to Carlton at 11 depends how the cards fall. Depends what Adelaide want and whats available. There were talks they were keen on a key forward but not long ago they had a plethora and Jenkins, Walker, Lynch arent going anywhere and still plenty of footy left. Also cant see them passing on Francis, Milera if available. Reckon good chance they get 1 but not both

Would LMFAO if Carlton take Parish with pick one, don't actually think they will but it would prove what a waste of time all the sarcasm and point scoring that I have read in this thread.
I did hear on an AFL draft podcast that Carlton actually had wanted to turn pick 2 if they had got it into Weiderman ahead of Schache.

Then again the club's drafting over 10 years is shit.

Could see Ah Chee sliding because he will be restricted to one role at AFL level,
being a small forward.
If he had a tank, and didn't go missing for large chunks of the game could of been top 5 pick.

Weitering, Curnow and McKay with our first 3 picks would be a huge result.
Add Ah Chee at pick 19 , the guy can change a game with a few touches all class and our SOS later and we're laughing all the way to Season 2016.
That would be an exceptionally outcome and great foundation for the future.

Can any Geelong fans offer a view on why Brown was delisted?

Oh boy….

There are Terrabytes of data stored in the GFC board threads about Mitch.

6 years - massive injuries for 3 of them - shoulder recos and busted legs. Grew a bunch in his last year before being drafted and never was able to bulk up his body. Talent a plenty. Great reader of the play and ball in flight and sublime kick for goal - think Gunston.

Was knocked for not trying hard enough in rehab to get back - and then not going hard enough in the game. Whether that was mental or physical never really determined. Also, once he finally got back to fitness and form, was kicking bags in the VFL, chris Scott just didn't get him consecutive consistency in the AFl side. Moved him around CHF, Flanks and even down back. Copped another small ankle injury at the worst time and ran out of chances.

Being called everything from spud to star.

Would be great to see him get a gig and do well.

Him not running a sub 3 seconds isnt great either.

I know that article was up recently about him but it runs true all of a sudden what attributes does he really possess?

Would be gone by then I think, both North and Hawks would be very keen.

Someone on our board thinks we are hoping to land Liam Hulett with a late pick, hence the delisting of a contracted player in Saunders. No idea what kind of player Hulett is but that's the talk ATM.

Definately not the case, especially with Francis.

Weitering is a once in a generation KPD? News to me.

He's a combination of Matthew Scarlet, Luke McPharlin, Ben Rutten and Darren Glass, with the rebounding skills of Harry Taylor and Michael Johnson. He discovered a cure for cancer at six years old and is believed to be the latest incarnation of the Buddha.

How do you rate Curnow v Leverde this time last year, both players had there fans and were spruiked to go high and for what ever reason people went cool on Leverde.. seems the same is happening with Curnow.
