Re: Farrer League

If anyone is moving to ACT, Murrumbidgee Juggernauts are looking for coaches and players for 2011. Any referrals appreciated.

Pretty quiet in here.
Any news from any clubs? More recruits? Read the Rivcoll have got a few handy ones, they will be a huge force this season.
Few clubs still talking it up that waiting on pen to paper but....

Ladder prediction.

1) Marrar
2) Rivcoll
3) The Rock
4) North
5) East
6) Colly
7) Jets
8) Temora

Marrar, recruited strong again and all good players in spots they needed. be very hard to beat and strong all over. spending the coin they are they would want to be.
Rovcoll, Sam Balding and Hannigan. Freaks who will dominate. Balding about the best I have seen plus some other good recruits and players.
The Rock, recruited 2 very handy players and then depth players who you need to have a strong team all over.
North, we have done well so far with Smally from Lockhart will be a gun for us along with McKenzie from Coolamon plus some other handy recruits to fill gaps.
East, word is they are struggling. Got Clarke from Osborne who meant to be a freak but no other recruits really and lost a few, Cameron is back but whispers are he isnt playing.
Colly, have no idea about them bar a few of there players used to be handy players at Tigers, the Pounds.
Jets, yet to sign anyone and heard struggling, apparently lost their indigenous boys and few others.
Temora, unknown

Anyone else got any news or predictions.

^ - We (saints) havnt been splashing much money around.
Hawky coaching the 2s and come over for that from Marrar for the chance to coach and get in a leadership group which he didnt have out there. Was out of favour with the coach and his mates out at marrar.
We have as a lot of clubs do, have had to throw some cash and bit more cash at current players due to other clubs trying to snare them, Quee, Barnes are major ones here. We have spent a bit of coin apparently on the few from lockhart but not much and not as much as offered elsewhere but they have mates and work with our club etc which was decding factors. Also have offered a little out for a assist coach role but again, its not very much! Lot less then they prob can get elsewhere. We offered which is pretty common knowledge one of the marrar recruits a role $200 a game and openly is getting $350 game out there. Also heard this was the case with East trying to recruit a few of them and the same player as us, off the mark by a few hundred compared to out there, rivcoll and few rfl teams.

Balding is a gun & would think he would have to be close to the best tall in the league. MCU B&F. Hannigan is a quality small forward & should kick plenty & their A/c Schulz was probably Culcairns best midfielder, won MVP,but surely 3 or 4 guns wont take you from last to almost top. Colly at home were unlucky not to beat Jindera, Culcairn etc so would expect them to be very competitive.

Yeah Balding, I cant see many teams being able to match it with him.
If Gullie where still in the comp would have been worth the admission to see Balding vs Measilbach in the ruck or anywhere on the ground.
Hanningan, if he plays permanent forward role would nearly back him to win the goal kicking in league.
Heard about that Schulz, is he a ex state player in 18s?
Rivcoll also picked up a few other recruits, no stars locally bar those two but a few litlle stories in the paper about them and a few recruits from uni names, looked them up and few from decent leagues and senior players at young ages.

All in all, think this could be a pretty close year and some games to the wire no matter ladder position!

Power Forward - did you or do you have a bit to do with the Hume league? How do Colly go? Main/best payers etc..

Yeah rflffl, Ex Hume league. Have watched all 3 of these boys a number of times. Schulz is ex Rams, Premiership player & Hume rep.A/c at Culcairn last year. Know his family well.

Pound boys are probably the pick at Coly. They play the smaller grounds very well.Good midfield. Brooker (coach) tells me they have picked up a couple & are expecting to go ok.Some of their local kids go to uni in Wagga, so will make it easier for them to play Farrer. Too much cash being thrown around the Hume league for them to compete.

Has Robbie Jackson had a run for his brothers side this year? Struggled to get a kick 2-3 years ago so will be interesting to see how his old legs go even in the Farrer comp.

Dont think its really about how many kicks he can get, more about helping teach a few of their promising young players a thing or 2. From all reports though he was going well on weekend til copping a stray 1 to the head.

The hawks look to be travelling ok at this early stage of the season.

just wondering if anyone will take it up to marrar this year? maybe ewk or the rock?
what has happened to rivcoll? touted as big improvers have only won 1. must be dissappointed with that. I heard hannigon is injured but have they lost anybody else?

Sounds like it was a good game out at Gumly on weekend, anyone see it? Do EWK have what it takes to eventually roll the top 2 sides? Obviously you could pencil in Marrar as the 1 team to be there on GF day, who are thier biggest threat?

The Rock won by kicking a goal with 30 seconds left. EWK do have what it takes. (maybe a little bias seeing I play 17s for them)

Good game of footy. EWK seem pretty good. Cluffy is beginning to dominate for them. If he layed off the darts he'd be on GWS hitlist haha

omg beaten by black diamond, what the hell is going on in farrar league, is it time to merge with rfl and at least make one good comp out of two average ones
whilst not against the idea of merging the comps they both seem to be travelling along alright as they are, i mean it could be worse couuld be canberra div 4

East Wagga knocked off the previously unbeaten Marrar on the weekend by 6 goals. Are they good enough for the GF? They have gotten within 4 points in 2 games against TRYC and lost to Marrar previously by 2 goals in both games.
Not after todays effort. Marrar will win the grand final easy. Can't believe they dropped the game to EWK.

"AFL Riverina operations manager Shane Buchanan yesterday revealed (North Wagga President) Barnes had been reported for allegedly striking, threatening and abusing an umpire."

That's massive news. Must have been quite a brawl. Did anyone see the incident?
