I have a bone to pick with you here.

American Eulogy is a very average song. The 1st verse is alright at best, the chorus is actually terrible. The modern world part is also terrible. The part where Mike sings is average. The only redeeming part is the slower part before it kicks into modern world.

And yet I know a lot of people that love this song. What am I missing?

The melodies the melodies the melodies! They are just gorgeous and uplifting. Also the energy is palpable throughout the whole song

I love the vocal melody of the intro and then into "Hysteria!!.." Then the first verse melody is just amazing with the 'ooooos' in the background for the harmonies. I also love the little riff before "I don't wanna live in the modern world". Just love so much about the track. The Mike singing part isn't amazing but it lasts like 4 bars and I still enjoy it

You can see why they call Green Day the modern day Beatles in this song.

Kudos for Aurora.
I can't stand any silverchair beyond their first two albums.
I don't care if you've grown up and want to write about serious stuff Johns. Grow some balls and play what I like.

Straight Lines is better than both their first two albums. Shame they broke up just after dtheir most significant development as a band.

One for the unpopular music opinions thread.

Look, I love Frogstomp, but more so because it is a product of its time. The album itself is quite simplistic and derivative. Straight Lines is a better album musically.

Those Thieving Birds is one of the best songs they've (Dan's) ever written. Low is awesome too. I just can't stand the title track haha

The Who doesn't get a whole lot radio play down here in Tassie.
There's about three radio stations: Triple J and two others that only plays songs created in the last 10 minutes. ;)
If you get yourself a digital radio there's a new station that plays lots of Who songs and it's Classic Rock Radio (also on 1377 on the AM band in Melb- the one that used to be 3MP).

I've gotten an all new appreciation of The Who since I started listening to that station a lot.

Loving songs like Pictures Of Lily, I'm A Boy, Pinball Wizard and so-on.
