Melbourne has included the highly-regarded Colin Sylvia and developing defender Nathan Carroll in a 28-man squad ahead of its Wizard Home Loans Cup quarter final against Carlton this Sunday.

Sylvia, the No.3 pick of the 2003 National draft, has played just three senior matches after being injured several times last year. He is able to play in this match despite serving a one-match suspension arising from last year's VFL grand final. Although the Demons are fighting this ruling, he will miss the season-opener against Essendon.

The injured Jared Rivers (hand) and Cameron Hunter are out of the Demon squad.

Carroll was a likely inclusion this week given the injury suffered by Rivers during Melbourne's defeat of Brisbane in Cairns last week.

It's expected Carroll, Clint Bizzell and Ryan Ferguson will be charged with quietening Carlton's Lance Whitnall and Brendan Fevola.

The Blues meanwhile, have included Glen Bowyer and Setanta O'hAilpin in their squad, after losing Scott Camporeale to a suspension and Digby Morrell to an ankle injury.

Irishman O'hAilpin played one match in the pre-season competition last year, but is yet to make his senior debut. Morrell was cut from Carlton's squad last week before the side took on Essendon.

Melbourne: Chris Heffernan, Clint Bizzell, Brock McLean, Matthew Bate, Brad Miller, David Neitz, Paul Johnson, Colin Sylvia, Adem Yze, Lynden Dunn, Travis Johnstone, Brad Green, Daniel Bell, Brent Moloney, James McDonald, Russell Robertson, Nathan Brown, Luke Williams, Simon Godfrey, Paul Wheatley, Cameron Bruce, Jeff White, Ryan Ferguson, Aaron Davey, Mark Jamar, Nathan Carroll, Guy Rigoni, Matthew Whelan

Carlton: Andrew Walker, Luke Livingston, Justin Davies, Lance Whitnall, Brett Johnson, Barnaby French, Matthew Lappin, David Teague, Setanta O'hAilpin, Glen Bowyer, Eddie Betts, Cory McGrath, Callum Chambers, Nick Stevens, Brendan Fevola, Chris Bryan, Ian Prendergast, Heath Scotland, Jarrad Waite, Jordan Bannister, Bret Thornton, Ryan Houlihan, Simon Wiggins, Trent Sporn, Karl Norman, Adam Bentick, Anthony Koutoufides, Andrew Carrazzo

I hope i never see another post from you on any forum ever anywhere. Fuc&off idiot
How about you stick to the Kangaroos board if you dont want to read what I have to say?

And if Colin comes out and plays a blinder tomorrow then I'll pop on here and apologise for having absolutely no idea at all. So you better hope your little mate doesn't play like **********. My expectation is I won't have to apologise. In fact he'll probably hurt himself today and end up pulling out of the game.

At the moment Colin is extremely overrated by our supporters, especially one Yze Magic. Maybe he's a big unit and maybe he's done a heap in his junior footy, but to me he has to earn a reputation on what he does in our clubs jumper. Which at this stage is not much.

Spot on. Same at Essendon with a dud by the name of Kepler. Supporters get carried away with players physical attributes, without, a/ looking at their skills under pressure and b/ football brain. This is a problem with not only supporters but the media, just look at how hyped up Tambling (0 AFL games) is. Same happened with, "Neon Leon", and its about time players actually performed in order to be dubbed potential superstars.

Who cares where we were this week, where we are in Round 1 is what matters. Hes a dud so stop talkin him up, when he starts getting 2 -3 possesions a week atleast then you can say hes improving.

I do. When you come on to our boards being a smartar$e, dont expect people to be nice to you.

With sylvia we have to give him time, like any young guy....except for Brocky, hes already a star.

That is the stupidest comment i have ever heard, but yet its the smartest thing i have ever heard from a Freo supporter.

So Maybe when you make it past the first round of the finals we will actually take Freo seriously, then again maybe not!!!!!! Everyone has to get there once :)

Come back to that in about 25 weeks when the finaks start and we'll see. Ryley Dunn has been injured sicne he arrived at Freo and even hes doing more than COlin. Dont talk players up until the do sometihng worthwhile.

Call Sylvia a dud if you like.

If we were to go by your player analysis Ryley Dunn, Ryan Murphy and David Mundy would be superduds.

Next time remember that before infesting our board.
