Fitzpatrick calls presidents meeting

Coincidental that Vlad has been talking all year about an extra bye next year?

Every club gets a bye next year in the fixture where they would have played Essendon?

As for the TV rights deal: if EFC get booted out, the networks will be missing out on 22 games. Solution? (I believe this is the same as the AFL's) extend the season by 3 weeks. TV networks now get the number of games they would have, PLUS an extra two.

and with the demise of the nab cup....extra 3 rounds it was on the cards

I'm sure its been said but have EFC (with all their Brilliant lawyers) just walked into Vláds trap.

-Afl release charges and set a date
- the four aminos demand details and more time before the hearing
- the afl grant the extra time (ooh look we are scared) and mention that EFC haven't asked for more time
- Efc ask for more time
- afl grant it (ooh look Essendon you can play finals)
- Afl release charge sheet, call meeting and have other clubs stand essendon out of the comp until charges are dealt with. Charges which won't be dealt with for months because EFC sought the adjournment.

There is your procedural fairness Jim.

he had partners. he is not a genius. teachers college is about his station.

number #1 indicator of C21 culture and idiocy, wealth=intelligence

Turn it up mate. I get it that you don't like the bloke. But he is CEO of multibillion dollar corporation. Negotiated on behalf of the players a pretty decent collective bargaining outcome too. He's no fool.

Absolute master stroke by the AFL. Essendon are way out of their league in trying to take down the AFL... the AFL is just way too smart for them.
After reading the report today, and their reaction to it, I think Kath and Kim would be way too smart for them.

Jeff kennetts comments the other day don't seem so crazy.
A lot of people like to bag him because it is a popular pastime. The reality is that he is always ahead of the curve with what he says. Jeff is very astute and looking past the crap and bluff.
We can only hope that *FC has a 2 year break. They most definitely deserve it. Players should become free agents.

actually, i never said he was a fool.

i have actually recognised that the last ten years admin, have done a phenomenal job in commercialising the product.

my reservations are they have oversold the product, and deferred all decisions according to revenue development. one glaring one i dont even have to tell.

but there are manifold. when they oversold the product, and built the myth, they put themselves into a bind of their own making eh.

hubris, success, sociopathy, impunity, like we see with essendon, never allows the actor to see downside or risk. the counter-factual is invisible, cos all they see in blue sky nirvana

Coma position, rocking gently, sucking my thumb actually.

Hey - dunno if you are still online or if you have wandered off to go to the coma position again - but just so you know, a bunch of us on here admire those of you from the supporters of the EFC that can acknowledge how seriously bad the basic facts are. I understand how passionate you guys are and how you innately want to defend your club and the EFC ex-players of high standing.

But I also have very strong admiration for those of you who are prepared to put long held love for the club to the side, read the charge sheet and respond with something other than blind defiance.

Acceptance that something was wrong (even if not every allegation is proven), and a determination to fix it (including by removing everyone involved in any way) is a great step to quickly getting past the cesspit of despair that suddenly clouds everything. As opposed to wearing a sombrero or saying ole'.

Hopefully the likes of Little will soon be swept out by a more balanced and realistic set of EFC supporters who care about their players, their club and the game that belongs to all of us who support all of the other teams.

Hang in there my MX missile man, many of us feel for you.

These meetings are huge. They are not very common out of regular meetings, quite rare.

In terms of the AFL you cannot get a bigger event.

Would love to be a fly on the wall.

Hopefully there are a couple of talkative flies.

The AFL is the clubs and if they sing the same tune they can do some serious stuff if one club gets out of line and challenges the integrity of the competition itself.

This meeting will be willing in the extreme. With so much at stake anyone predicting what might happen is a fool.

Anything may happen tomorrow, do not be surprised by anything.

Sticks jumps the table and headbutts Little?

*sigh* barracked for this club since i was a kid. There is no point for me in following the sport if Essendon are crushed.

Of course there is.

If you get smashed - you spend the next decade supporting the new regime and watch your club rebuild.

Tough few years but hey you don't choose not to be part of a tribe where Im from - the club will need your support more than ever.

Channel your anger at those in your club who have done this and drive them out.

As always (most of the time), my man Moooooooo is spot on.

Speaking as a fan of a club that has been through nearly two decades of incompetent administration, but which was smart enough to boot both Schwab and Connolly before they totally Melbourned us, I can't overstate the joy that comes from sticking tough after a long period of recovery.

I'd say that the joy of success, but honest, well-earned success, is far better enjoyment (even if it takes three decades to arrive) than stolen, undeserved short term victories (whether it be via tanking, salary cap breaches or poor WHS governance).

In the short term, rather than having a go at numpties like Caro W or Vlad, focus your anger and hatred on Hird and Little, and clean house properly to get rid of those that led you here.

For someone who types a hell of a lot of stuff I don't understand you make a scary amount of sense blackcat.

I was thinking more along the lines of JB whipping this little number back out. (do these meetings have a half time show?)

Stand up and be strong man. You have fought a good fight and are now folding like a deck of cards.

It will turn when more is revealed. Don't get caught up in the hysteria.
What is revealed? What could possibly trump Reids letter? Or the aflpas comments? I've waited patiently hoping the club would have a decent explanation for this saga. Reids letter confirms they don't and shows it was complete and utter mismanagement on a grand scale!!

Sorry but I'm filthy! A grand club crumbling before our eyes. We need to take whatever sanctions we deserve and hope like hell we aren't a bottom 2 side for the next decade. That's if we even have a club!

Sorry, I'm just completely over it! Today was the last straw

Baker & McKenzie will write an article in the next 24 hours that Hawthorn, WC, Collingwood & Carlton independently met prior to the meeting & the number 1 topic raised was the question whether Essendon should be stood down from competition until the matter is fully resolved.

was Baker&Mackenzie the biggest lawfirm in the world? or Fairfax's competition to Woodward and Bernstein. the copyeditors at The Age cant blame their byline to Essendon. So thats one positive to Monte de Windy

i am insulted to be regarded in the same group as Carlton. I can think of at least 2 other clubs bigger. oh wait, one is getting severely f*cked on.

still, carlton is really one of the big boys? really? there should be a joint asada/wada/acc/afl investigation into this.

Hang on a second!

Am I correct in believing that the presidents of these clubs joined Vlad on his equalization junket a week or so ago?
