Exactly. We can’t rely on our senior players to contribute or make a difference! We just have to hope the young talented players we’ve now accumulated stick around and I think they will under Clarko (she says nervously)!
It's going to happen. Clarkson has been in the business for a long time. He is seeing what this group will do in a few years.

I think his message there is that the boys should stay together... or miss out.

It hasn't. We opted out of the competition for 4 years for draft picks. We have them. Now is time to be patient.

Clarkson said if the zurhaars, simpkins etc dont stand up, its going to take longer. Guess what, they’re ****ing squibbing it and this is the result.

In their current form, they wouldn’t get games at other clubs. Its ****ing dire.

At a time I thought we had good serviceable players in the 25 age bracket, these blokes have turned to ****ing water.

fk it. It think it’s time to bring the footies out at training now. Let our blokes get used to kicking and hand balling……..nothin crazy, just like the basics as a beginning.
Bring out the mouth guards and see who wants a game.

This group is lazy, soft and a bunch of one way runners.

I would make the campaigners run up and down the ground until they vomit.

100% with everyone else here feeling extreme disappointment pushing into anger with our club at the moment.

Tired of this acceptance of mediocrity and not calling a spade a spade in favour of extracting BS woke positives and handing out participation praise.

Lets get some honesty out and own our s**t!

Jye has lost the plot, completely off his game and more of a liability now than a captain. Started the shipshow against Freo with a team killing captains kick miss from 30. His performance since his return is momentum and moral killing to the team. Looks lost, terrible disposal, misses shots, has tackles too easily broken. How is this a captain leading?

LDU, has become a 1 effort 1 trick pony. So many non efforts and lack of urgency defensively is become beyond a joke. Never seen a so called elite player walk so much and fail to get involved when we don't have the ball. As 1 way as a player gets at the moment, someone needs to let him no he is no Dusty. Leaks easy clearances, won't chase for a tackle, takes backwards steps when required to apply defensive pressure. Stats look ok, but costing us more defensively than he is providing offensively.

Fischer, absolutely offers nothing defensively, questionable game awareness, avoids contact like the plague, providing less and less offensively. Total fail for mine, happy not to see him in the side again this year.

Xerri, yeah i know he look like he is working and is putting in effort others aren't, but ........ I am absolutely hating his ruck work, either he loses the tap, tries to take the ball or taps to his own feet. Our mids are all sucked in so tight with no tap clearance even if we win the clearance it's very ineffective and under huge pressure. How many centre bounce taps has he won this year that ended outside the centre circle? How can we play with speed and width when our ruckman alone is pulling everyone in. Personally he's having his best year, teamwise for mine he is killing our midfield.

Corr, just too unstable. For the one who is supposed to be the experienced leader of our defence too often he looks like the 10 game kid scrambling to get up to speed with the game. Just not good enough.

Bruise free brigade, way too many who want to play this way. Yeah most teams have 1 or 2. Currently we are running with a lot more than that. Fish, Stevenson, Stevens, LDU(defensively), McKercher, Tucker, Scott, Ford. There is nothing scary about this team play hard, apply pressure, watch them crumble in fear. Very un North Melbourne!
So disappointed in our 25+ crew, the kids are holding their own, our biggest failing so far is this older leadership group.

In honestly im not sure if my frustration comes from personal disappointment in our team or fear that we won't recover from this period of inadequacy and long term it will damage this club irreparably and sink it.

I hate being ashamed to be a North supporter, but that is where this club has currently put me. I used to wear my North hoodie anywhere, now I won't wear it outside of the house. That's a sad sad place to be.
Agree, I'm getting increasingly frustrated at Xerri's ruckwork. Does not play to our midfield's strengths at all.

Disappointing. 100 point plus loss in reality. Didn't expect to win but hoped we would score more.
Wow was that 14 or 16 players with less than 50 games? Skill level was poor.
I don't expect the kids to nail them every time but Simpkin/LMac etc. should be able to hit targets.
Then the senior players performing poorly like LMac, Stephens, Simpkin, Corr, Tucker, Stephenson and Zurhaar.
I don't know the answer as you can't tip them all out and just have kids. Tucker and Stephens poorest I thought.
I thought a fair few tried really hard but the bigger bodies of the Lions were very quick to pounce and tackle when ever we looked like breaking out of the middle. We got smashed in the middle and the small ground didn't help much either with spacing.
Comben was a positive I thought in the 2nd half. Not sure Sellers or Maley changes that result.
Greenwood at least tackles and looks hungry to get involved.
Guess we can only look forward to Round 6 and hope we beat the Hawks so the boys can get some confidence.

And brads still got that bemused look on his face when the games well and truly **$##@
He will take them no where.

But right now I’m not sure if I would prefer the abject despair of our club or at least the optimism of knowing you might win a game sometime.

Today killed off pretty much any hope I have for us improving this year. Another black hole of a year.

Yep, AFL is pretty much dead to me. I hate it nowadays.

This

Not even being negative about where north is at, I am just tired of the same ol excuses every year and just tired of watching us play when I know the result

Winning is so far from us and many absolute spankings are coming which is only going to set us and the players confidence back even further. We are not improving and haven’t really taken strides since Bard left?

Ive checked out

It's frustrating not to see more signs of improvement as a team, but from an individual point of view, we're starting to put all of the pieces together.

Kallan Dawson, Tristan Xerri, Tom Powell, Colby McKercher, Charlie Comben, and Zane Duursma are all developing as important parts of this rebuild. Those six names weren't in our best side for most of last year, but now look like exciting parts of our future. When you consider that Zac Fisher looks at least serviceable, that's a third of the side turned over in one year. If you wanted to, you could also throw in George Wardlaw, who only had a brief cameo last year.

By the end of the year, hopefully we're adding names like Tyler Sellers, Finnbar Maley, Riley Hardeman, Cooper Harvey, Brayden George, Miller Bergman, and Eddie Ford to that list.

Genuinely, cue the north should fold / relocate. WHEN WILL WE GET BETTER? As an organisation, we cannot afford to be this bad for much longer.
Danger signs will be if we are still at the bottom when the Tassie money disappears. That would mean potentially over a decade of shitness. That's when we will be in strife. The next few years are pretty important for us to start turning it around. Hard to see atm though.
