Considering said clause doesn't come into effect until after the trade period, it's a bit of a moot point.

Indeed I did.

So trying to find loop-holes and clauses to allow a club to use (at best) "borderline" drugs for off-label purposes = absolutely fine.

Players using a clause to get out of contracts because said supplement program exposed them to potential risk to health and career = unethical ???

Is this REALLY the stance from the EFC ???

Said clause has ALWAYS been in the players contracts, the fact that they can go to a club as a delisted free agent IF they enforce said clause is the only change ........... In other words the EFC players could always walk into the draft because of the actions of the EFC, but now (with free-agency in play) they can walk to the team of their choosing without having to go through a draft.

Hold on, Bomber has confirmed that not only were the drugs harmless, some of them may make you immune to cancer, Ryder should sign for life on a reduced contract, he owes them big time.

Yes

Mr Goddard really needs to be sat down and given a lesson in shonky deals by Essendon over the years. If there's one club who really shouldn't be pointing the finger at others for unethical behavior, it's Essendon. Remember Essendon's practice awhile back of talking opposition players into retirement so they could pick them up after they'd been de-listed? How could a club who has had Sheedy and Hird as coaches over the years possibly preach to others about ethics?

Haven't ever heard anything intelligent come out of Goddards mouth. Always thought he should let his footy do the talking. Unfortunately for the Bombers this year he didn't earn the $800k he was paid by the club.

Which practice was that? Pls expand!

It is unethical.

I can understand a player mabey wanting out but to actually have rival clubs dangle lots of $$$ and telling that player to use the drug get out clause is disrespectful especially if that player is happy and want's to go no where.
It is neither ethical nor unethical - simply business.

And you say this because ??? Because I don't agree with Goddard trying to play the "ethics" card considering what has eventuated at the EFC ???

You do realize that Goddards comments will be endorsed by the EFC, not just his own opinions, so yes I do take offense then the latest spin being sent out by the EFC is a claim of ethics considering the crap storm created by the EFC and the lack of ownership for the situations which have arisen. But my all means, engage in lawsuits and claims of ethics instead of fronting up to the charges and taking ownership of the situation ............

Is it unethical that Essendon's Coach James Hird has had a meeting with Melbourne's Mitch Clark who is still under contract until october 31 without asking for Melbourne's permission?
All clubs can talk to him, but they can't offer him a contract. Which is ridiculous because any club that talks to him and wants him will have intimated their offer.

Your club stuffed up BJ, it's open season now.

If it was some other club struggling with this kind of issue, Jimmy boy would've gleefully lined up with interviews trying to pick out every last piece from the carcass. Don't for a sec come around preaching how "unethical" you see these things are. Clown.

Examples? other than breaching the cap.

Maybe Brendan would like to answer whether he would deem it 'unethical' to sell expensive watches to his Saints teammates, when he was given them as a gift?

The Thursday night of the 1984 2nd Semi Final. That clown Sheedy and that prick Egan reported the Hawks to the drug squad who were at Hawthorn's door upsetting practice and their preparation for the finals. Sheedy and Egan reported that the Hawks were inhaling an illegal substance which was in fact a mixture of smelling salts and honey to clear the head after a knock. Guess what? We even had records to prove it.

A real cheap stunt from a cheap football club that will stop at nothing to achieve success. Ironic that 30 years down the track, these "moral watchdogs" are in genuine strife for use of illegal substances. And Goddard says OTHER clubs are unethical. What .... A ..... JOKE.
