Welcome, one and all to this, the official Season 19 team thread for your cherished Gold City Royals.


Season 18 was a triumph. We essentially took everything that made Season 17 so great and then built on top of that. I am of course talking about off-field, because on-field we’re still a giant mess. And even though Season 18 was arguably the first season we actively dedicated to the sim, and actually tried to make a push to play finals by taking advantage of the silly, new eight-team final system, we failed - miserably. It was a spectacular spectacle of fail. I hear TFW is running our season on a loop in a Dragon Island theatre while he twirls his curled moustache and cackles hysterically.


Don’t let that discourage you.


This season, I think we have to line our priories straight. Who gives a * if we can’t win games? Who is in this for that anyway? I joined the Sweet FA seeking fame and fortune, the occasional game of Qooty, and spiritual atonement. Who cares about premierships? Pfft. I envision Season 19 to be much like the exact reverse opposite of Season 18. We are going to instead march on and strive for perfection off-field because that’s the only way to reach success on or off the pitch. We are like that guy, Hannibal, when he crossed the Alps, with a s**t tonne of elephants. People called him crazy, they were like, “dude, that’s whack, there’s no way are you going to do that. It would be so much easier to get to Rome without going over those giant, freezing mountains, or, without all those elephants.” But he had a goal, and he did it anyway, at enormous costs, and it was still awesome even though he never actually took Rome.


I’m sure I had a more positive, coherent message when I started writing this.

What I am trying to say is, don’t get your hopes up. Finals-bound - we are probably not. But this is still the best club in the league solely because of our lack of success. Someone makes fun of us for that? You tell them to mail you a photograph of them holding up their Sweet FA premiership cup. I assure they cannot. This league is basically what you make of it, so who cares if we never make it to Rome? Kicking ass is all about living in the moment, immortality and infamy come later. The first steps to that, however, begin in the off-season. Most of you have already welcomed 3KZ is Football to the club. Let’s now welcome Speck, too. He comes to us from the Wonders wrapped in a giant red bow. The bow is of course, symbolic. Do not try to undress Speck, please.


Go Royals! Let’s not win anything.

For those who are curious about why everyone refers to my stat work, here's what I had going for last season at the Wonders before I decided to take a break. There's still a few things I want to do to it but hey it's pretty enough (will look good in purple and gold too).

It kind of comes with the package. I've already spent the last 10 minutes recolouring it to purple and gold anyway. I want to change a bit of it but not sure what yet, if anyone has any ideas tell me. Can pretty much do anything.

Far be it from me to offer a suggestion to someone as obviously talented as yourself, but with the player rankings, I wouldn't have different colour crosses, it makes it hard to read (and I'm trying to figure out where I am on them )
