We would get him easier if tom boyd not in bulldog , this season he play more and show something but not in Neale form. If happen that this season we don't get our men. We force our hand to play kids in midfield and Fyfe more time in forward we might see our own surshine this year.

Bennell is a proven star midfielder. He has broken tags, and is probably only a year or two behind Hill in terms of development.
McCarthy has done very well in a few games as a #2 key forward (behind Cameron). Would he be as good up against the best opposition key defender week-in week-out?

Apparently the reason Richmond pulled out because HB blew them off and didn't attend all the meeting with them.

No. He didn't attend the morning medical they had scheduled and it was re-scheduled for the afternoon which he attended.

Its the rumour from a Richmond supporter.

There were other face to face meetings which he failed to attend, in Perth and Melb.

We can make do without Bennell. Need McCarthy more.
If we can make do without Bennell then we can make do without Neale if we get Bennell. Bennell would be more dangerous when the play is in our forward line, making Neale's main ace his inside work. I think we can cover that with Blakely. Of course Blakely (and co) can come in for the likes of Mzungu, Suban, de Boer etc no problems, but he will be looking towards an inside role.

The other thing is that if we managed to obtain McCarthy then Fyfe is also going to be under less pressure to morph into a forward target. Not getting McCarthy makes our midfield weaker if it results in Fyfe forward.

I would much rather get McCarthy without trading a player like Neale and would happily cough up whatever picks it would take. Hope that is how it pans out.

Amazing how quick their supporters have gone from wanting him to bagging him. A few of their posters are PM'ing each other with the "real" reason Richmond backed out.

Don't think anyone is under any illusion that he doesn't have baggage. But if we can get him for pick 32 in a weak draft we are laughing all the way to the bank.

Very little risk for a potential Top 5 player.

It's Richmond. They are a living representation of delusion.
