Have you caught your pet killing a something?

I just caught my girlfriends dog killing a possum (it had it by the jugular and shook it around).

Never been a pet owner so I had no idea how to deal with this situation I was quite shocked and disturbed.

I'm a city that can barley deal with bugs but today I disposed of a possum corps.

Have you ever caught your pet killing something? And where you able to save it?

Ps. Incase you haven't noticed I'm quite fond of possums.

Just now my cat killed a mouse

My cat's caught quite a few starlings and mice. It's not so bad when they're only catching pests.

My old cat (years' back, now gone) used to catch, kill and eat rabbits. She was a crazy thing, gentle as could be around me or anyone else, but at night it would go hunting and you'd find a rabbit carcass on the lawn the next day.

Of course she killed mice and birds too, great little hunter.:D

I had a crazy cat years ago. He was enormous and very aggressive, despite having been neutered. He specialised in killing native animals (at the time we were living in a very treed area, adjoining the Mullum Mullum creek and reserve). Amongst other probably protected species, he once caught a bat, ate it, then disgorged it onto my bed. Charming. I've never had the stomach - literally - for another cat.

v3.jpg We don't have a cat or dog. Instead we have chooks and a mini wildlife sanctuary, with 3 species of possum, frogs, lizards and dozens of birds on the block. A local cat recently killed a magpie. I'm refusing to see that as ominous for season 2015. In the past we've found the neighbour's dog making off with one of our chickens, and found the bodies of blue-tongued lizards dragged through the fence between us and dog-occupied properties. This handsome blue-tongue now lives near the front door. We're hoping he'll survive. His name is Voldemort.

well my cat would run round catching leaves, yes leaves getting blown around in wind and she would bring these leaves onto my bed. a nice present each night. sometimes when she's especially nice she would bring like 10 leaves.

That's nice. Better than bringing you a regurgitated bat.
