Now don't go off half ccked at the title.

The NFL is in a different stratosphere to the AFL in every possible conception as a professional sport - so I'm not making any comparisons there.

My point is about how the game honours their true greats.

The AFL are not only not in the same universe as the NFL they are complete RRRS clowns.

Take a good hard look at Jock's record.

Played 191 consecutive games between 1906 and 1917.

Played 261 between 1903 and 1927.

Collingwood premiership player 1910.

Collinwood premiership player/coach 1917.

Collingwood captain 1912-13.

Collingwood premiership coach 1919 1927 1928 1929 1930 1935 1936.

That's 261 games and 2 flags as a player

That's 8 flags and 4 in a row as a coach

That's - as a coach - 714 games

467 wins

237 losses

10 draws

No single person in VFL/AFL history has a record even remotely
comparable to Jock

And the AFL put him up to the legends and named the coach's trophy after him???

Legend???

What a croc of SHT!

He's an immortal OF THE GAME.

Look at how the NFL treat their immortals - Lombardi is a demi god.

Jock still hasn't got a statue . . . .

FCK THE AFL.

Surely you have some personal anecdotes about your fun times with Old Jock?

VFL/AFL have historically shitted on anything that involves Collingwood. AFL is more likely to rename the premiership trophy, the Joel Selwood trophy.

Jock is recognised as a Legend of the AFL. Not too many of those.

It isn't clear to me what the OP is actually after.
Collingwood people know who he is, but the general public have no idea who he is. The AFL/media don't give him the recognition that he deserves. Although, the premiership coaches are awarded the Jock Mchale medal every year. You'd think he deserves a statue or have a section of the MCG named after him.

Sadly the AFL knows no shame in respect of dragging the best down to the level of the also rans.

Collingwood isn't the only club and Jock not the only great slighted.

Many of the new floods of rules since the AFL took the reigns are aimed squarely at outlawing astonishing prowess.

I appreciate everything Jock has done for us.
Absolute legend 👏

At least Jock has legend status and the Jock McHale medal named in his honour. But what about a man, who not only played in, but captained 4 premier ships in a row. And won a Brownlow. I am certain that if it was any other club, the great Syd Coventry would be installed in the upper echelons of the HOF.

No argument - it's simply bare faced cheating.

For that matter Leeter was held in awe by opposition players and regarded as a young god of a player.

Not many know that Jock was honoured from a very unlikely source. After retirement, which was sadly too short-lived, Jock moved from Brunswick to live in enemy territory, Essendon. As a kid I lived there and the street just opposite my school was named in his honour, McHale Crt.
