Think you will find Pat is still at Katty Sean had been cleared over to Katty as well when the KDL shutdown now gone back to VT.

Snuck that through, deadset joke, mediocrity breeds mediocrity. Should be down to 5 not up to 8
Especially when we have divisions in the KDFNL that have fewer than 15 teams competing (Under 18's, the 4ths, D Grade Netball & the Junior divisions of Netball), therefore you can make finals by losing more games than you win.

That will look even more ridiculous when there's a big gap between the top 5-6 (Murch/Toolamba, Stanhope, Nagambie, Avenel, Lancaster & possibly Violet Town) and everyone else.

The Top 6 is a good format, there's no need to change it, and if you've got multiple side playing finals, the first two weeks of a Top 8 format is a logistical nightmare, because you can have side playing at different venues on the same day.

Yep...you can’t have a system where more than half the clubs make the finals..it’s just ridiculous.

I’m not generally a fan of a top 6 system and prefer the Top 5 but given the number of clubs in the comp a top 6 is ok

A draw which doesn’t see everyone play each other the same amount of times , can often see a large variation for those fighting for a finals spot.
A club may get 2-3 sides which are at the top of the ladder and another against two lower sides .
If having a top 6 or 8 means some of that discrepancy is taken out of it , is an extra final or two really that big of an issue ?

This is compounded by the advantage that 2nd gets over 3rd in the current final 6.

The logistics of an 8 could be managed through using neighbouring clubs like Lanky and Merrigum, or Stanhope and Girgarre (among others) hosting for Week One.

The financial impact that many are forgetting is that with our Grand Final not being hosted internally and 15 member clubs, we can only expect to host a final every 3 years. Which is a blow to the bottom line.

A final 8 (with a Mooroopna GF) provide a guarantee for clubs to host a final every second year.

As a club administrator it would be great to know when you are hosting finals and be able to plan ahead for that extra revenue.

Either way, it hasn’t been discussed for 2021.

Not having the GF at the league venue is a massive downfall IMO .
Yes it’s great that it’s played at a nice venue ( Mooroopna ) but what is it doing to improve facilities or show case venues the leagues clubs have on offer ?
A 5 week top 8 finals series avoids the need for multiple finals being played on the first week of finals and would also allow the KDFL to get away from being on the same weekend as the MFL , GVL and potentially open up for a GF the day after the AFL GF .
I don’t understand why finals can’t be forward planned and lobby councils to get facilities up to scratch .

Can you give us an update on how everything is going at cat land Has Crawf committed to 2021
That was asked at AGM/Delegates meeting when clubs just shared at the end of the meeting, what is happening at club land etc... I can’t recall her name but I think she is their VP (on the executive anyway), said that Crawf is having his contracts etc worked through as he has a lot of other commitments, media and so on. They obviously knew he was on board 2020 but 2021 a different kettle of fish.

Keego might have further updates though.

Notice Tommy Durwood has signed at Murchison..... is that 4 KDFL clubs in 5 years ? Must be seriously looking at a record at this rate!

Be a 4 or 5 pointer also so hope he plays and pays his way or will he just not turn up like in previous years?
