-Interesting to see that both the Tigers and Blues (both who havent played finals in a long time!) are better odds to make the 8 than Sydney, Adelaide and yet again North who have all been regulars in finals for the past few seasons.
-But still some common themes: Yet again Freo is up there for some reason , and North again is shown no respect with their odds

2009 PRE-SEASON CUP ODDS:

ADELAIDE: $15
BRISBANE: $13
CARLTON: $12
COLLINGWOOD: $11
ESSENDON: $17
FREMANTLE: $10
GEELONG: $7
HAWTHORN: $7
NORTH: $13
MELBOURNE: $31
PORT: $11
RICHMOND: $15
ST.KILDA: $13
SYDNEY: $31
WEST COAST: $21
W.B: $9

-No real surprises here.

Also some other markets such as the AFL/NRL premiership double on the site! May also be worth a look.

Anyway feel free to discuss...:thumbsu:

Poor odds for North.

I could get 15 to 1 from the 75% of the geniuses at bigfooty.com.

Re: Latest TAB odds...

Get onto St.Kilda at $13 for the NAB cup......reigning premiers!

Re: Latest TAB odds...

Port, us and Sydney as usual are underrated. Brisbane as well, Voss could fire them up, they' got some pretty good players. I can't believe Freo is at $1.65. Surely that is an error? Neil Craig has never missed the finals and I don't see it changing this year. Our forward line is getting a lot better and our midfield as well. As everyone knows our backline is one of the best in the comp as well with Bock and Rutten in the KPP posts and Macca and Johncock as the small running defenders... I'm gettting on Port, us and Sydney.

Re: Latest TAB odds...

2009 TOP 8 ODDS:

NORTH: $2.50

Liking those odds, will most definitely be on them before the season starts.

2009 TOP 8 ODDS:

CARLTON: $1.60

Re: Latest TAB odds...

i mean im all for the tigers and blues cracking the 8, but at whos expense??

In my opinion i see North and Port as being FAR more dangerous than a Collingwood or Fremantle... yet both have worse odds than them.

Id love to see the logic they use to come up with these odds.

Re: Latest TAB odds...

In 10 years under Choco, Port have never missed the finals 2 years in a row. Make of that what you will.

Port the value for sure Papa G. I reckon your lot could even go top four. Freo always seem to be rated at this time of year but there has been a fair turn over this Summer. Stay away!

Re: Latest TAB odds...

Id love to see the logic they use to come up with these odds.

The logic is that they are far more likely to take massive losses on teams like Carlton or Richmond then they are on North Melbourne or Port Adelaide. Think about it, half of BigFooty actually think Carlton are a decent chance next year, and the media talk them up no end as well. It makes Carlton an attractive proposition for betters, which makes those teams dangerous for the bookies.

makes sense...
i still dont understand the freo odds, but who really does...

Re: Latest TAB odds...

why on earth are freo such massive unders? 1.65 to make the eight? they've made the 8 twice in their history, have a list of untried or unskilled kids and are severely lacking leadership both on the park and from the coaches box. never mind having the worst matchday and motivational coach in the league. and the least intelligent coach in the league too. which dumbarse freo fan has plonked on them to bring the odds in so tight?

Re: Latest TAB odds...

North, Adelaide and Brisbane are all very attractive for those odds.
Essendon I would imagine would be there or there abouts and at $3.00 is worth a crack.

You may laugh at Carlton and Richmond, but the fact is we are expected to make the eight this year thus why the odds are like that. Whether they do or not is another story completely, but as a Carlton supporter I would be expecting finals as would tiger supporters. Of course things don't always pan out as you envisioned.

Fremantle I can't understand, they have cut nearly a third of their list and are clearly going to be cellar dwellers for a couple more seasons whilst they inject some youth into their team and start their rise.

Re: Latest TAB odds...

There's no point in trying to figure Freo out people, it's an abomination that defies all logic. The more you try to reason anything to do with Fremantle, the less sense it makes.

Re: Latest TAB odds...

Would have thought that with the resources boom dying down in the west the crazy Freo bets would have subsided.

In my opinion, after Geelong and Hawthorn, you could throw a blanket over Saints, Coll, North, Crows, Dogs and Port. Still think Carlton are a little off the pace (unless they have found a decent CHF/CHB that I haven't been told about) and Richmond, Sydney, Brisbane, Essendon and West Coast on the next line. Freo and Melbourne are no chance.

Re: Latest TAB odds...

- Norths odds again! same as West Coast
- Fremantle, Blues and Tigers... although id love it, im just being realistic.

A cross between blind loyalty and mug punters.

Re: Latest TAB odds...

I work for a sportsbookmaker and what really drives me nuts is that NO ONE ever backs Fremantle, no matter how much the odds are pushed, people refuse to back them.

And yet they sit at 1.65 for the top 8, totally ridiculous.
